Day 6. Comfort zone challenge / Social anxiety exposure.

Posted 16th September 2017 at 21:11 by Boy

Main challenge: Selfie with a stranger.

Probably first time in my exposure, when I got rejected. I had something similar in the past on my videos, but this time I got firm "No".

Two people I approached said "no" to me and the third person didn't mind and it was an elderly man.

Well, I've heard rejections make us stronger and do good stuff to our personality, it's good to get rejected. Not all the time, of course.

Thing is, again, I blame my face because of it. I have a face that can't be trusted and no one wants to have their picture on my phone. Just seen so many videos on YouTube where people don't mind at all being selfied with a stranger.
So yeah, my face... I don't know how to deal with this problem yet, so I will continue challenging my anxiety.

I guess exposure can harm if a person would take every single rejection or every fail as the end of the world and think something like: "Gee, I doomed, that was so bad, I'm a freak, it's impossible, they rejected me once, things are real bad, I was embarrassed" and so on.
Need to try not to allow these thoughts and stay more positive. For example, in my road of exposure I've met more positive and good people than negative and that is something to think about.
