Stranger in a strange land.

Posted 11th May 2014 at 23:01 by indigo777

A very different week than normal as I had the chance to stay with a friend at Whitby for a few days in a holiday cottage. My anxiety was not particularly good (it wasn't great before I went though). First it was a 1 hour train to Sheffield followed by a 3 hour train to Scarborough followed by a one hour bus to get there on a bank holiday Monday and then 3 trains and a bus back on Friday. Too many changes and it starts to not only affect my mood but also my bowels but maybe that was due to two lots of beans on Thursday (not a good idea!). On the train to Scarborough my lemonade bottle also decided to blow its top (quite literally!) with a loud bang. Oh good, I do like being the centre of attention on a crowded train.

This was the view out of my bedroom window of Whitby Abbey.

The harbour and town, I looked for vampires and goths all week but unfortunately did not see any. Even though stressful it was also good to do something so different than normal for a rare change. Feel the fear then release large amount of flatulence all week anyway.

Whitby! Looks like a lovely place to visit and so atmospheric. Love the harbour shot. And the gothic Abbey. Hear you 100% on the stress of travelling. That sounds an epic journey esp as on public transport, hope the benefit to you outweighed the inconvenience. Buses turn my tummy over too I have made it 20 miles out of town in the last two years so reading this is a true inspiration, hope you are well rested and ready for more adventure.

Thanks rainbow, It was a relief to get back on Friday as I always fear a train breaking down and being stuck somewhere miles away from home!

There was some sun every day but only the Tuesday had a nice sunset. It was quite mesmerising to watch the sun setting, small boats and gulls from the end of the pier almost alone. I even saw a seal briefly.
