What I have learned from a confrontation

Posted 31st December 2015 at 00:16 by Amara 94

I feel I have posted a lot on SAUK about the situation I had with a close friend. Anyways, I feel the confrontation was deserved and needed to happen. As I think back I subconsciously used the friend as an emotional crutch to rant about work and social problems I sometimes have. I guess that isn't the way an ideal friendship works.

Anyways, I feel feeling less able to share frustrations and problems with my friend has allowed me to actually focus on solving my problems more than complaining. I also feel more of my own person and that I need to be more assertive.

I still feel I am this persons friend, I am just less emotionally dependent on him. Whilst I know no one is perfect sometimes I feel I am so dependable on the opinions and feelings of others that I act passively, as if they are perfect. And in turn feel afraid to do anything that goes against their opinion. I don't remember openly disagreeing about much of what this friend has said but now I feel more able to. I generally feel like I don't need to please people and should just be me, I think my current workplace has influenced this mindset as well.

I guess now I can try and put the confrontation behind me as I just honestly wanna move forward and progress in life.
