Site improvements

We are looking into ways to improve the site for our users, please feel free to add suggestions or ideas on how this could be achieved and what you would like to see added to the site.

Please note this is not about Moderating this is about what you would like to see included on the site ;)

Thanks :smile2:

Skin options.

OK, I'll compromise. An "I'm feeling horny, help me out" section instead then. :)

Hmm I cant see one =S

I will have a closer look,

edit: Really cant see it! :( Never have. Of course you got more rights than me, maybe its not turned on for me. Maybe I am mistaken and am blind.

ßazzaOld 15th May 2008 23:04

Re: Site improvements

Can someone else post please and tell me if they can see it who isnt a mod or admin. :)

Just so I know I aint being blind. Or should I say blonde.

Re: Site improvements

Have added a strikethrough option :)

The spell check is most likely an additional function through IE. It is not built into the vBulletin software. It can be done, but it is far more efficient if you have one as part of your browser (the one built into Firefox is absolutely fantastic).

I think skins would be a good idea, BTW.

Re: Site improvements

Ya but nots not a forum feature exactly? You mean like a addon, addon.

Not sure what you mean.

Edit: that was reply to cow.

ßazzaOld 15th May 2008 23:08

Re: Site improvements

Ya I can use a addon but it was simply a forum suggestion =p

Doesnt matter. This is awesome!

Been many times I want to use that.

Mama Shaz 15th May 2008 23:09

Re: Site improvements

This is mine ßazza, it gave me the option to add it within the reply box, I will do some more digging and see if I can find out any more info for you.
Do you use IE?

Re: Site improvements

Ya I seen some forums with a spellchecker built in but then again this is run out of someones pocket so it doesnt matter.

I just download that, I reason I dont have 'addons' or many is because I always changing things on pc and I have to reinstall them so I dont bother.

Yes, I use different browsers, at the moment firefox so yes. A link would be appreciated.

Will get back to you if I can find anything out :)

Re: Site improvements

I actually went to use the strikethrough today and realised it wasn't there (cheers Occult). And when I came across this thread I thought of skins, a lot of forums give the choice of colour schemes in the user cp.

I also noticed something the other day - I always thought we had the title of member and then the mods obviously have the title of moderator, and admin of course. But then I noticed we have junior members too. Come on, surely we can have something more exciting than that. Utterly ****ing incredible member? Just a thought.

Re: Site improvements

Put your suggestions forward mi©o for different member titles, we are open to any suggestions regarding improvements :thumbpur:

At the minute? Not sure. A hierarchy of user ranks would have to be agreed upon.

Images, rather than text, are always an option, too... http://www.vbimageworks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=493

Re: Site improvements

Ooh that ranking thingy sounds cool :D I've seen that on other forums, and also where users can put their own stuff there, makes it a bit more interesting :)

Bugs :smile2:

Re: Site improvements

how is the rank decided? post count? is this other foray into "rep" territory? :smash:

Deepest Blue 16th May 2008 18:19

Re: Site improvements

I have an Idea.

Other than the obvious, eg, Admins & Mods, a good thing we could have installed here is something like a "Most Valued Poster" or SAUK-MVP as a status - which isn't exactly a Mod as they don't have any rights to modify anything, but rather, the title given to any loyal & active member who posts on a regular basis.

It is a rank but this could also be used in two ways:

A) as an introduction to appointing future Mods
B) appointed to members who deserve to be recongised but do not want to be Mods or hold that kind of responsibility.

Like I said, it's just an idea.

Thanks for reading,

Danny.

Post count would probably be the best way of determining a user's 'rank'. I think, in theory, that it might be possible to set-up a system that would be inclusive and less problematic than a 'rep' system, although I don't deny that there is a fine line to be drawn.

I thought we were talking about custom titles were by people can have a title under their username or something that denotes their personality.

Godfather for example could be "SAUKs resident chav gangster".
