If someone tailgates you

Do you...

I probably slow down slightly. It probably also depends on the type of car...if they are a beemer or audi they get extra points

Speed up then slam the breaks on.*

*In fantasy world, where I have a licence and drive a tank.

Stop, get out, kill them, hide the body in the boot

Re: If someone tailgates you

I was talking to a guy the other day about this,.
he said he had bought an Audi, I said "oh, no,. please don't tell me you're on of those whankers who drives about 3 feet off someone's bumper doing 70"
he didn't take it very well,. but I can be a bit tactless at times,...I think I did go on to say that all Audi drivers tend to be tohsers too, - oops ;)

as for the Poll question,. I have learnt that it is definitely better to just not react and let them pass if possible, not easy,. but getting worked up about driving aggression creates your own driving aggression, and so on,. it never ends well and you usually end up behaving in a really silly way,.. which I always regret.

but I have noticed that speedy/aggressive/arrogant driving is on the increase unfortunately,
my latest purchase has been a dash cam as I've had a few near-misses lately and none have been my fault.

My uncle is always up someone's arse when he's driving ( not literally :0) I imagine he can Taste what they had for breakfast at times. Idiot. I don't mind but I'm precious cargo obvs, if he wants to do it solo, fair dos.

I slow down. If they overtake me, I speed up and tailgate them.

You win!

There are circumstances where it's probably best to move along a bit and out of the way, like if it's an ambulance.

LOL

Re: If someone tailgates you

I keep at a steady speed of exactly 70mph. If it's an Audi/BMW (and it almost always is) I slow down to exactly 65mph.

Re: If someone tailgates you

I stay at the same speed then slam my breaks on and pull away fast, that is usually enough to get them to back off.

Yeah, they do shift a bit, and the wailing siren, it'll put the shits up anyone.

I usually say, do you want to get in the boot.

Re: If someone tailgates you

What confuses me is tailgating makes it harder to overtake :hmm: I think most of it is pure ignorance and reactive driving, it's the most common cause of traffic jams too on motorways (traffic waves). More cars are being fitted with sensors to prevent it, and some even force the car to slow down :) Personally I think they should be mandatory for anyone in an SUV (or similar mass) and heavier.

Re: If someone tailgates you

Tailgaters are bellends. They are putting people's lives at risk just because they are in a rush to see their mistress or sell some drugs (I can only presume this, as they are Audi or BMW drivers, but I am right).

^ "They see me rollin'..."

'Right of Way' seems to get used by angry drivers. You have priority over traffic or vice versa, not Right of Way :tongue1: Maybe that's why they're so angry, the feeling of entitlement perhaps? :eekpurple

Ah the joys of pedantry.

Or conversly people who don't stop when it's my right of way and race past an obstacle onto my side of the road expecting me to let them through. NO I Won't, it is my right of way, so back up you b'stard...I hate rubbish drivers.

I try not to take any shit from anyone when I'm driving. You tailgate me then you're tailgating the wrong person :tongue1:
