The guy who used to play Nicky Tilsley in Coronation Street before Adam Rickets took over. Warren-something his name was, iirc. He occasionally moved his eyes and lips in scenes, which confirmed that some activity was going on, somewhere deep inside, but it was often very hard to spot.

The guy was pine.

i think natalie portman is a crap actress, she always looks like someone acting instead of just being the character. i think her voice/talking 'skills' are crap also

nicolas cage i also think is crap, i feel as if i can see that he is trying really hard to be a particular way, instead of just seeing him being that way.

the rock from the mummy films is really good compared to these two, he just doesn't do the sort of roles that get you acclaim, like being an alcoholic or whatever.

oh, i hate jack black too, total bawbag, wooden as a pirate's peg. i feel that i know, really KNOW, he is a really bad person.

i don't like hearing scottish people in films/telly because it's too normal, i can't suspend my disbelief. it makes me think that all scots actors are wooden, but they probably aren't. sean connery is ok, but i'e never actually known anyone who talks like that.

You clearly have never seen Cage's Elvis impression :thumbpur: although I admit his performances are inconsistent to say the least.

Keira Knightly. She's always the same in everything she does.

The king of all wooden actors has to be David Caruso - Horatio from CSI: Miami, dude just stands around with his shades trying to look cool even tho there's like a chopped up body in front of him. :D

I find him absolutely HILARIOUS to watch in CSI Miami, the quotes he comes out with are atrocious. His acting is truly awful in everything i've seen him in.

As soon as I saw this thread title I thought of this guy from Eastenders. Nigel Harman I think his name is. I can't stand watching him.

Lets face it Hollywood is primarily concerned with good looks.

Orlando Bloom in Kingdom of Heaven was dire. Cage is pretty poor too.

But the worst has to be the guy who used to be on the bill, the black copper who was gay...Lance was his character name. He then had a brief apearance on Spooks, and was just as bad.

hmm least im not the only one lol
on the subject of eastenders i use to think minty was wooden, but hes not so bad now.Maybe sometimes its the stories or characters a actor is given that makes them appear poor at what they do

Not really worth mentioning soap 'actors'... I think its a job qualification. My vote goes for Ben 'Bennifer' Affleck, teak!

After watching World Trade Center today, and having read this thread, I actually noticed that Nicholas Cage does have wooden qualities. In fact, he played largely the same character he has in every other Cage movie, despite being trapped under thousands of tons of rubble.

Thankfully, he didn't spoil the movie.

Kevin Hodge 4th October 2006 23:04

Re: actors that are wooden

i thought nic did alright in world trade centre, considering who he is and what the film was about.

i supopse it helped that he was just some scruffy everyman, and didn't have flowing glossy mills and boon locks like in con air. holy crap! THAT was a stupid film.

did you enjoy watching him scream in pain?

True, he wasn't terrible, don't get me wrong. I just noticed little glimpses of previous characters in his performance.

On the whole it was a pretty good movie. I especially liked the part when the building collapsed.

Strangely, I thought that part was quite funny.

If I remember rightly, the other fellow had just mentioned that Cage didn't speak much, so he replied with a load of screaming.

Somehow that doesn't surprise me  But I think people are being a bit unfair to Nick - I mean he's certainly not a plank, you could argue he is not naturalistic but I kinda like his quirky style.

Matthew Fox, plays Jack in Lost, I sometimes mistake im for one of the palm trees!

Evangeline Lilly, plays Kate in Lost, almost as wooden as Matthew.

And yes, I will be watching the new series :D
