Re: Feeling like an alien sometimes
Yes that's me! lol
I definitely do feel different to others and on top of that my sense of self just isn't stable - I can go from feeling worthless - often when I'm out in public
to superior -...

Re: Self harm?
Both times I've given blood they've given me orange squash and biscuits and I've felt cheated - it should be a cup of tea and biscuits - that's the tradition!
I thought perhaps you needed to look...

Re: Self harm?
When I feel down I sometimes go to bed without brushing my teeth and washing my face - that feels like a form of self-neglect to get back at myself. Not in the same league as things like cutting...

Re: Consolation prize
We can learn up to a point in my opinion. I'm 45 and I still haven't mastered how to not lose my rag when stress builds up too much so I'd say it varies greatly from person to person. To compare a...

Re: Consolation prize
He's got Asperger's Syndrome though - that's what we do!
The world would be a lot better without all the vagueness and ambiguity in my opinion - people might know what they were doing then.

Re: Consolation prize
I think it happens in many relationships that one partner is keener than the other. It depends what you are getting out of the relationship. I think you have to be honest with yourself and assess...

Re: Aspergers?
I'd say the latter - they help the person with AS cope with how they are treated by an unaccepting society.
It doesn't work for some and they kill themselves.
I think a combination of avoidance...

Re: Aspergers?
I don't think there's much advantage to being diagnosed with Asperger's as an adult except that it gives you a greater degree of self-understanding. By adulthood most people with AS will have...

Re: Coming off Propranolol - Advice needed
I wasn't on for that long - probably several months. I can't remember the exact dose - just a standard one, not high.
The tablets seemed to prevent outward signs of anxiety and this seemed to...

Re: Coming off Propranolol - Advice needed
I've taken Propranolol in the past and I just stopped taking them - I didn't taper the dose or anything.
I would follow your Doctor's advice though to be on the safe side.

It might be because you see keeping to the daily walking routine as a kind of protection against 'bad' things happening so that having broken the routine you expected something bad to happen. Then...

It can often be when I see the music in a film or video - the combination of sound and visuals
Elgar's Cello Concerto has helped me to deal...

I agree. It reminds me of the lyrics to the Lamb song 'Bonfire'
Have you ever wondered why those days exist
When life just seems to be a conspiracy against you?
I don't know where the answers...

I can relate to feeling that I'm not the 'target audience' for something. Today's culture feels as if it doesn't apply to me - partly because it seems predominantly youth orientated and partly...

The peple who taunted you at school are probably still shallow idiots so that won't have changed but not everyone is like them - I think that's the point people are trying to make.
I think people...

I don't think you always need to relate to a fictional character to find them interesting. Take Alex in 'A Clockwork Orange' - I'd say he is an entertaining character but I wouldn't say I really...

Therapists advise on how best to respond to problems in my experience.
I've seen a number of therapists, not just one. Advice is useful but you don't always have to take it - you evaluate it to see...
