Re: Scared of using people's names?

Yep. Well, I used to. Why? I don't know. It was like sticking my head above the parapet, socially speaking, and making a sudden change in terms of how intimate I might seem, as you say. I remember it...

Re: Any feel SA has really held them back in life?

SA makes things one hell of a challenge, that's for sure, as do things like property prices and an absence of family wealth. That said, I have never got a job through word of mouth and would avoid...

Re: I'm so boring, sensitive, ignorant and gullible

You sound pretty ... normal, to me. I mean, no-one is perfectly entertaining all of the time. But you don't come across as particularly boring. It seems you have passions, and that's the key really....

Re: Do you find people don’t remember you?

It seems like you behaved perfectly normally and decently, and that he may have issues himself. Just move on from your old lot. I have only had one instance like that, at a party about ten years...

Re: Dating An Emotionally Unavailable Guy!

I found your post resonated quite alot with me, particularly around the way your boyfriend reacts to intimacy. I can be like that. Not always; I can be very tactile and affectionate too, but the...

It's ludicrously good. Of course I've only gone and developed a bit of a man crush on the Fool.

Re: Help/tips needed.

Don't worry about feeling like a loser. New work situations massively trigger me, so you're not alone there. For me, the best way to combat it all is to have a plan, and to be ready for things, and...

Re: Does anyone else ruminate a lot?

Totally. It got to the point where I realised it was pretty much my only speciality. I got around it by writing a fantasy novel where characters (aka imaginary friends) have the same ruminations,...

Re: The Suicide Thread - Trigger Warning

^ Wow, that's insane. From what I can gather of you, you do a fair bit for the SA community. I can only imagine that the meetup people view an SA group as happy hunting grounds. Rest assured that not...

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)

I'm thinking about how much I like the word doily. It really is a perfectly delightful piece of language - almost onomatopoeic - for an equally appealing piece of clothware. If you can say "Charles,...

Re: Random Questions (3)

I used to think about how it would be if the universe had always existed. Never had a beginning; always was. I reckon that, as a child of nine or however old, I came pretty close to understanding the...

Re: How is everyone feeling? (31)

I feel kind of odd. I started triggering like mad yesterday at a bunch of stuff and came home feeling all stripped, like a de-upholstered couch that's had the nice spongy bits removed, leaving a...

Re: Things that may stress an SA person but are probably nothing to most others

80) Sitting on a train in a four seater opposite someone you don't know - or worse, someone you know but don't like. For five hours. Because someone organised it that way. And you can't use the SA...

Re: Things that may stress an SA person but are probably nothing to most others

I had this happen mid job interview once. I went in all full of beans, then the caffeine quit and the sugar left me hanging. It was quite a professional job too. I had to make up some pretty quick...

Ah, yes, I do so enjoy that feeling.

Re: Really depressed and anxious

Sorry you are having such trouble. You're not a failed parent at all, but parenting is hard and there is often no useful guidance. I think a key thing here is to be firm but fair with your child....

Re: Does anyone else come across as passive?

I disagree. Power is useful in some regards. Think of a teacher, a parent, anyone in a position of leadership. Their ability to co-ordinate and influence groups has (I hypothesise) helped humans...

Re: Does anyone else come across as passive?
