Re: If you could re-do University..

I'd change a lot if I went back again (I was far too much of a hermit) but no not the subject, astrophysics is so freaking awesome :)

Re: do you feel people are thinking badly of you

I am pretty much the same, my problems only really get going when I have to actually talk to someone.

Re: Comparing to others and coming up short.....

I do sometimes, it's worst with my sister because she's like what I could have been if I'd never been crazy, but it really is so futile and pointless. What does it really matter what someone else...

Re: are you good at your job

I think I'm pretty good, I am only a trainee at the moment so still learning but I have confidence in my intelligence and I really care about getting things right (I appreciate this job a lot after 4...

Re: have you been or still go to university?

I am on other boards with a higher percentage where I do notice a vibe so I doubt that. Actually I think this site is one of the most varied I've posted on in terms of ages and backgrounds.

Re: have you been or still go to university?

I don't think it does, I think we just look for any reason why we don't fit in somewhere.

Re: advice on declaring medical history

They can ask if you have a disability and if you would require special accomodations for interview (like making sure the location is wheelchair accessible) but nothing more specific than that. I...

Re: advice on declaring medical history

Sign the contract first and then give the info and you should be fine. I would always recommend being honest about things, they might ask for a letter from your GP or something but they can't fire...

Re: What is your favourite pokemon/Which pokemon are you most similar to?

Yeah this is like the third game I've played and the first one I've ever encountered. You can see them on the GTS quite often but they'll be impossible trades (like a level 1 zekrom).

Re: advice on declaring medical history

It's really illegal for them to fire you because of medical issues, as long as you are capable of doing your duties then they have to work with you. They have already made the offer and sent the...

Re: have you been or still go to university?

I have an MSci in Physics & Astrophysics :) I was ok with academic stuff at uni but really didn't socialise much, I was in a relationship most of that time that wasn't exactly healthy and yeah I...

Re: Started volunteering..woop

Well done :) I was in a similar situation when I started volunteering in an Oxfam bookshop about 2 years ago and it was so helpful. I'm now working full time again in a great job, have been since...

Re: Has getting a job helped your social anxiety?

It has been good for me so far, but I needed to get to a certain point before I was able to handle it.

Re: laser eye surgery

I don't think so ;) I've worn glasses for nearly 20 years now (got them in primary school) and I love them, I think I look really weird without them.

You should be a bit wary about the bags you get through the door, some of them aren't real charities - they sell the clothes commercially and only give a small percentage to good causes.

Re: Do you regularly give to charity?

I've had £5 a month DD go to the shelter where I got my kitty since I took him home (2005) and I used to send them more when I was in my old job. I volunteered for a year and a half at an Oxfam...

I think you just feel afraid because you stepped out of your comfort zone a bit, that doesn't mean it was a bad thing to do :)

Re: Is there a point where giving up is just the way to go?

I don't think 'giving up' is ever a useful thing to do, but accepting your situation and being a bit more zen about the whole thing is a good idea imo. 'Recovery' can become such a massive thing...

Re: The Inner Critic

I think it functions as a defense mechanism. It means we can't be hurt by people because they can't do anything worse than what we are already doing. We imagine the worst possible...
