Re: Ex-sufferer interviewed

This is the deal-breaker for me. $15 may well be a drop in the ocean but that's just for the Demo CD - which is probably not of any use by itself. Instead its the £100 + 'Program' which is...

Re: Do You Feel Let Down By This Country And Its Leaders?

Glad to hear it! :d

It's true there are a lot of people out there who are living off the state who probably shouldn't be - I dont' know the best way to tackle it, but I'm glad we do have a...

Re: Do You Feel Let Down By This Country And Its Leaders?

Have you ever bothered to look what the BNP actually stand for - do you think they have good ideas about how to fix the country, or is it easier just to subscribe to their philosophy of blaming...

Re: SA Character in Casualty

Yeah, that is not encouraging. I have a bad feeling they they are going to portray this guy as just some loser-type personality who needs to get a life. That's NOT depicting SA, it's falling into...

Re: Do you REALLY have social anxiety?

Heh, no intention of doing that, this has got my debating muscles fired up though..

To me personally the question of to what extent the official definition of social anxiety is correct or not is...

Re: Do you REALLY have social anxiety?

I actually think you are stretching the truth a bit here. There has been a shift towards medicalising certain aspects of behaviour which in some cases is regrettable, but I don't think it's the...

Re: Teased for being quiet by work colleagues, again.

Just to pick up on this point - I don't think that is fair enough at all - OK so different workplaces have different cultures, but if your personality is not like everyone else's you should be...

Re: Do you REALLY have social anxiety?

Agreed, that is definitely the danger. There is probably a distinction between what is social anxiety and what is a more transient shyness, but we shouldn't underplay what a serious condition social...

Re: Does this NLP guy sound dodgy to you?

Sounds very dodgy to me. I don't have much experience of NLP, but in the end his 'guarantee' is not worth very much. He wants you to sign a contract for £800 worth of sessions beforehand, but I bet...

Re: Fantasy vs Reality

Yes, I can definitely relate to this bit. 'I prefer fantasy to reality' seems to be a common phrase used by people with SA. I think I prefer it sometimes as well.

I don't know if its indicative...

Re: Feel Suicidal after failed job

Just wanted to echo what the others have been saying - don't beat yourself up about what happened with that job. Working in a call centre is my idea of hell, I know I could never do it even when I...

Re: Sunday Times article on Loveshyness

I saw this earlier and was going to mention it if someone else didn't. Never really liked the 'love-shy' label, but on the other hand its good to see some SA-related issues getting more mainstream...

Re: A Rant: Workplace, Lonliness and Exclusion (Warning: Long, Self-Absorbed)

Glad you got something out of it. I have had very similar episodes so I know what this is like. It's tough alright, and there are no guarantees, but there's nothing like that feeling when you...

Re: A Rant: Workplace, Lonliness and Exclusion (Warning: Long, Self-Absorbed)

Sorry to hear about your situation, sounds like it really sucks. I've had similar experiences before and I would probably react just like you have. Did you ever find out why your old desk was taken...

Re: Interesting article...

Very interesting article - it has always seemed to me that SSRIs and other medications for mental health problems have quite a dodgy scientific basis to support them. They may work for some people,...

Re: CBT Privately

The Priory, I thought only big celebrities could afford to go there?? Anyway, I've had CBT privately - it's not cheap however you do it, but you can maybe find a therapist for around £35-40 per...

Re: Youtube diary of my social demons

That nutshell video is brilliant, just brilliant. Best thing I've seen in ages. Made me laugh a couple of times too, it gets the message across but is still light hearted, you should be a director...

That was funny but not the funniest news clip ever. That award has got to go to this... I still chuckle when I see it now:

Should add that its not the exact same job I'm...

Re: Susan Boyle and the kids

I dont' think that's going to happen even though she didn't win! She's world famous now - there's not really any going back, which is hopefully a good thing, as long as she keeps herself grounded...

Re: Whos a geek/nerd?

I don't like the terms geek or nerd - probably because I fit both of them. I hate the way these stereotypes are used though, as if somehow being interested in something other than football, soaps...
