Re: Self-Help Book List & Other Resources.

Given my job, I just wanted to mention Reading Well Books on Prescription: https://readingagency.org.uk/adults/practitioners-guides/reading-well-books-on-prescription-resources.html They're a list...

Re: Recruitment Agencies

When I was first job seeking, I found recruitment agencies useless. I think some can probably be okay though. I sent my CV to one for a job earlier this week and they've called me twice and emailed...

Re: Any grads struggling to find a job?

Does it have to be in London? It's probably the most competitive area because you're not only competing with Londoners but also those who can commute.

I will be graduating with a Masters in...

Re: How did you get your job and how???

I got my job from submitting an application form and attending an interview. There was a problem with the person they originally appointed so they offered the job to me - apparently it was really...

Re: In a place where nobody knows you is easier

Yeah, I feel like this. There are no expectations and confrontations and I know I'm never going to see the people in the new place again so it doesn't matter as much. I find it a lot harder to go out...

Re: Making the first move

I'm terrible at this. I always have to have someone talk to me first, and directly, and not be interrupted by anyone else so group situations are particularly a nightmare. I can't even say good...

Re: Applying for a job

It probably depends on the kind of research you're doing. Some research involves interacting with the general public so I'd read the job description carefully.

Also, I think jobs are very...

Re: Anyone here NEVER drank alcohol?

Same here, except I'm not a guy. It seems rare to find anyone that's never drank alcohol. It doesn't appeal to me and I'm fussy as well.

Re: What I did today - for small achievements and cheers

Thanks everyone! :)

Relieved that it was over! I know I didn't do brilliantly - I was reading from my notes the whole time but at least I managed to look up throughout to make eye contact. All I...

Re: What I did today - for small achievements and cheers

Did a group presentation at uni. Terrifying but it could've been worse. I think the group meetings were more scary than the actual presentation in some ways.

Re: Does being busy make SA easier to cope with

Definitely because it takes the focus away from your thoughts and onto the task at hand.

Re: Public Speaking for the Socially Anxious

Yeah, this is what puts me off joining something like Toastmasters.

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)

Why does my wrist ache when I apply pressure (like pushing on it to get up from sitting on the floor etc.) I'm trying to rest it but it's hard to do things one-handed!

Re: What are you doing right now? (6)

Codecademy in preparation for my course. Probably won't remember any of it but at least I'll hopefully feel more confident in the relevant module.

Re: Nando's!

I order medium. I could go for hot but I get plenty of heat when I have curries so it's nice to have something milder occasionally.

Re: Staff in shops coming over to you selling things.

I've never actually had this problem. Staff only sometimes come over to me to ask me if I'm okay and I can always respond with a 'yeah thanks' and walk away.

I do have this problem with charity...

Re: I want friends but I don't want friends?

You didn't do anything wrong. It sounds like you were being a real friend and respecting your friend's wishes. Don't beat yourself up about this. I don't understand how friendships can change so...

Re: When Someone Says How Are You?

I used to really struggle with this but I'm better at it nowadays. Sometimes I forget to ask the same question back and by the time I've realised there's been too long a pause and it's too late.

Re: I want friends but I don't want friends?

It is a lot of effort to keep friends and I don't think I have the headspace and energy to have more than a couple of good friends (if I should ever be so lucky). One of the few things that makes me...

Re: How is everyone feeling? (30)

I've been feeling really down for the past week or so, more than usual that is. I was on the brink of tears queuing in the supermarket today and I don't even know why. Sigh, wish I could make myself...

Re: What I did today - for small achievements and cheers

^ Well done! It's great at Eastbourne.

Similarly, I went to an air show in my town today. I was very aware and self conscious and anxious about being by myself as everyone else was with someone...

Re: Shutting yourself off emotionally/ learning to open up

I struggle opening up to people, even just about my day, let alone feelings an' all that. I am better online with opening up but I guess that's because I'm sort of anonymous and I'm likely to never...
