Re: Are you a people pleaser?

Oh God yes, most certainly I am. Unless I do please people I feel I will be rejected. Because I have always found it difficult to interact with other people I have to find other ways to win their...

Re: Have you ever called in sick at work when you're not really sick?

Yes, occasionally. When my amygdala is screaming at me not to go to work. And if I try to ignore it then it will send me the intense physical feelings and horrible thoughts from the very pit of hell.

Re: Things you'd love to hear when you have social anxiety

For me it would be something like " It doesn't matter if your face is bright red, that you're gangling and awkward, that you never know what to say, that you always look extremely anxious. You are...

Re: Procuring online treatment for anxiety, and panic attacks!

If it's an online support group, I can recommend three sites... 1) Panicend, 2) The Anxious Truth, 3). Friends of Claire Weekes.

Re: Has anyone used Zoom before? - Anxiety

Sillypenguin, I too share your dislike of video calling for the same reason, but unlike you I don't mercifully have to do it at work.. It's a long story but I have to do a video call with my wife in...

Angry Re: Things you just don't want to hear when you have social anxiety

Yes me too! Especially if somebody says it when others can hear it too. My wife used to say this to me a lot when we were out with my brother and his family. I wanted to just curl up and die.

Re: Things you just don't want to hear when you have social anxiety

From time to time my wife will tell me it's all in my imagination and a work colleague will tell me that I overthink things!

Plus I would dearly love to be able to smile more and I feel guilty...

Re: The Suicide Thread - Trigger Warning

I think that when the avoidance feeling clicks in for me, I'm avoiding two things. The first and most obvious is that I'm avoiding people or a particular person or a situation because I know that the...

Re: How do you feel about masks?

Re the steamy specs issue. One school of thought is that smearing your glasses with washing up liquid resolves steaming up. I haven't tried it myself but it seems to me your swapping one sight issue...

Re: How do you feel about masks?

I don't mind wearing one at all. On a bus it can feel as if it takes more of an effort to breathe and in a Supermarket they do tend to mist up the specs which can make the shopping list difficult to...

Re: What was the worst period of your life?

Diamond D, try investing in a copy of Paul David's book ' At Last A Life And Beyond' or his first, 'At Last A Life'. He too suffered with Social Anxiety Disorder and both books are very helpful IMHO.
