Re: Befriending services for sa?

I volunteered to befriend an older person through Age Concern. If you're looking for volunteering work it's a gentle way to meet people. Mostly it's just the one older person but you also have...

Re: Want to Haircut at home, after watching youtube

I cut my own hair. Luckily it's curly so if I mess it up it doesn't really show. I cut my husband's hair with clippers. Think he has a number 4. He always seems pleased with it.

Re: Closing libraries means abandoning society’s most isolated and vulnerable

I visit my library a few times a month. I always borrow books from them. If the library closed I wouldn't be able to read anything. I also print and photocopy there.

Re: Best ways of meeting new people?

I volunteered for Age Concern visiting an older person in their home when I was in my late 20s/early 30s. It may not sound like fun but it helped me as it was just me and them each time so I got to...

Re: Cutting out caffeine

Nothing I drink contains caffeine except coke if I'm driving a long way. That's not for health reasons but because I don't like the drinks it's found in. I haven't noticed any benefits from not...

Re: What to tell the doctor?

I'd recommend writing down what you want to say like you have on here and taking it with you. You don't have to refer to it but just having it can take some of the stress away. Tell them if you don't...

Re: Got a new job!

Congratulations! I work as a porter and the healthcare assistants where I work all seem to enjoy their jobs. Not that I talk to them much but that's the impression I get. I hope it all goes well for...

Re: My Minicity

^ Thanks Firemonkey. I don't think mine's going to grow that much as I don't have a blog or many people to send the links to. But I'd rather have a quaint village than a sprawling metropolis!

I've started one - http://kingsnorth.myminicity.com

Do you have to do anything or does it just grow on its' own?

Re: Setting up your own business

I work half the time for other people and the rest of the time (in theory) I'm self employed. To be honest I'd rather work for someone else. Just turn up to work, be told what to do and get on with...

Re: How to make a important phone call

I echo biscuits advise and would write it all down. Think of the questions they might ask you and your answers. I still do that if I'm really anxious about phoning someone.

I'd also write down all...

Re: NEET for 5 years, help finding small job.

If you're in London (which I think you said you were) you could try out these people:

I worked for them for a while. It's not regular work - the odd day here and...

Re: Inspirational quotes/sayings etc

Do not lose heart, even if you must wait a bit before finding the right thing. Be prepared for disappointment also, but do not abandon the quest.

Re: At what age should people stop PC gaming?

Both me and my husband are in our 40s and we still play. We don't have a tv which people seem to find a lot stranger. If you enjoy it then why stop?

Re: CBT "Buddies"?

I'm reading the Melanie F book. It seems to make sense although I'm only on chapter 2. I tend to 'forget' to do the exercises so this could be really useful. Could you let us know whether you...
