Chatroom rules!
Chatroom rules.
Zero Tolerance of:
1. Racism. If you make a racist remark you will be banned from the room for at least 24hrs.
2. Sexism. If you make a sexist remark you will be banned from the room for at least 24hrs.
3. Homophobia. If you make a homophobic remark you will be banned from the room for at least 24hrs.
4. Abuse towards other members. If you are abusive towards other members of chat you will be banned from the room for at least 24hrs.*
5. Abuse towards chatroom operators. If you are abusive towards chatroom operators (Ops) you will be banned from the room for at least 24hrs.*
You are not allowed to do the following things in chat. If you do these things you will receive a warning and may end up being banned from the room:
1. No posting private messages into the room.
2. No pornographic links of any kind.
3. No idling in chat for more than 24hrs. (by idling we mean being inactive)
4. No impersonating other chatroom users (by impersonating we mean using their regular user name or telling others that you are a user that you are not).
5. No discussion of Ops decisions in the chatroom. This is to be confined to PM and email with the Ops.
6. No one below the age of 13 should be using either chatroom. No one below the age of 16 should be using #lounge. The chatrooms (especially #lounge) often contains adult conversations not suitable for children.
7. No bots in the room without permission from the ops.
8. No promoting of illegal drug use or illegal activity of any kind.
9. No discussion of present or future illegal drug use or illegal activity of any kind.
10. No discussion of other rooms on the server in #sauk or #lounge. If you do this you will be devoiced.
11. No breaking of bans imposed by an Op. You will receive an additional 24hrs for any ban breech you make.
Your responsibilities as a chatroom user:
1. To be as inclusive as you can in your discussion.
2. To welcome new people into chat and offer support where you can.
3. To comply with requests from Ops.
4. To follow the rules of the irc network (which are not included here).
5. To use your own user name and not for any reason use the registered user name of another chat member.
Please note that rules are stricter in #sauk than in #lounge. Profanity in #sauk is forbidden, including the use of profain usernames.
*abuse includes but is not exclusive to:
offensive, injurous or harmful remarks.
using the room with the intention of upsetting others.
using chat with the intention of disrupting the channel and make the room unusable or difficult to use for others (such as flooding the room, engaging in a “rant” which does not include others, but is just a monologue and prevents others from continuing their conversations).
speaking insultingly about other users of the chatroom.
harrassing other users on topics which have either been discussed before or are painful to specific users of the chatroom (ie. Talking about self harm when you are aware that it might trigger unpleasant thoughts in another user).
