I've never been off work with it but I have been late a few times because I knew I couldn't make the 15min walk from home to work. It's a difficult phone call for sure, cos they don't understand that it could just be at any moment.
Also, the random pain from spasms is so hard to hide IMO and that in itself can be embarrassing and hard to explain.
