I buck the trend too, because I was raised in the South East (That London) but evening meal was tea and the midday meal was dinner (school dinners, as Scurrilous said) but now I live in the Midlands, just short of the Yorkshire border, and I've switched to dinner in the evenings, preceded by lunch (not that I eat lunch). Now, tea means Afternoon Tea - sandwiches, cakes and scones accompanied by a pot of tea, which is one of my favourite treats (although I haven't had it in over a year, as it's something which requires company).
Anyway, tonight I am having hamburger with quinoa salad, as there is no other viable option, owing to the cupboards being bare pre-flight.
