Default News about my new SA book

Hi everyone,

My new book on SA, called SOCIAL ANXIETY REVEALED is coming along. It's been edited and almost has a cover, and it's due to be published in September. I'm very excited. Does it show?

I have started a new blog to accompany the book, which is here: https://socialanxietyrevealed.wordpress.com/. Feel free to have a browse and comment if you want.

The book is intended for everyone - SAers and non-SAers alike.

In the meantime, I want to tell you about a new self-help book I discovered by Adam Rockman. It's called "Overcome Social Anxiety: Cure Shyness and Talk to Anyone with Confidence". I haven't read it all, but it looks helpful.

Thanks, Clementine. And just to prove it's a real book:

Ooh, it does look big there!

Absolutely fantastic Chach, more power to your elbow. I've spent almost every day for the last decade working on my teen SA novel and it'll probably be ready to go in another ten years! Joining a writing group last year has helped big time. Will put 22nd Aug on my calendar.

P.S. Bizzarely we both have the same join 'date' on here!

Shall be shoplifting this as soon as it comes out. You still get paid right? Don't mean to steal money from you but the multinational corporations that blah blah blah, and homogenisation is a big word which sounds important and I'm probably against it. I'm glad that I had this opportunity to make whatever the **** I'm talking about clear.

Congrats on completing a book that's a real achievement. My Dad wrote three books, they didn't all have a lot of pages, but they all took a lot of work. And while he didn't make a living off of them, the second one paid enough for him to take a nice holiday in Russia! Best of luck when your book comes out I hope it connects with the audience you are reaching for and helps them feel less isolated and alone.

The early bird catches the worm! I always wanted to write a book about social anxiety, but didn't consider myself qualified until I'd overcome it.

The front cover looks beautiful. I'm definitely reading this when it comes out. Well done!

One book was a guide to the haunted castles of Scotland, and the other two were about systems of alignments between historic places - sort of like what some people call leylines, but he didn't think of them in that mystical way.

A Glasgow filmmaker made a movie which was a mix of his work on his last book and the coincidental walks around the city taken by a former psychiatric patient, and it was shown to a full house at my local arthouse cinema, so although it didn't have a huge number of readers the ones who liked it really liked it.

I hate that it's only on Amazon, but Amazon has taken over and everyone bows to them. Anyway, it's out of my hands as my publisher handles that side of things. I don't know what 'shoplifting' means exactly, but I expect it means I don't get paid for that purchase.

I hope you can at least write a review of the book. It can be short. Reviews are free and very helpful.

4.99 seems a fair price for your book so I've gone ahead and ordered a copy on Amazon. Happy launch day!

My copy arrived today since I have Amazon Prime. I'm enjoying what I have read so far and all the effort put in really shows. I recognise myself in a lot of the anonymous comments which other people made which shows that although I have made a made a bit of progress (Meetup.com has been very handy for me) I can see I have a long way to go. The book was well researched with lots of survey answers and thorough information. The net effect of reading it for me though was more hopeful and comforting, like having a good conversation over a cuppa with someone who used to give themselves a hard time over SA but has now come to much greater accceptance of it. Well done Miriam!

Thank you, GlasgowFilmTheatreFan! I'm so glad you enjoyed my book and saw yourself in it, and I really hope it can help those who aren't as knowledgeable as you. If you could write a short review on Amazon, that would be very useful. You don't have to use your real name.

To everyone else, the paperback costs 4.99. The ebook is only 99p. (While the paperback is better laid out, I think the ebook is just as clear to read.)

I wish you all lots of success in everything you're doing.

I'm always in Eastbourne so may try and pop along. More power to your elbow. The one prospect that has always terrified me about getting published is the whole promotional side that comes with it. Inspirational stuff.
