Default Isolation - a tip

I've found having the radio on, the background noise really helps. 4 radio and it's so helpful.

Same here, usually listen to BBC 2 as they sometimes even have really good topics (not always) and a decent mix of music. Not only the mainstream stuff.

I like listening to radio from the US, France etc on my phone but through my Bluetooth speakers. I use the free version of an app called TuneIn. It's a bit like armchair travel listening to breakfast news from Toronto and then later in the day as it gets dark enjoying the eclectic/jazz sounds of Paris's FIP. I only speak English and some Spanish but I like listening to French and Italian voices too.

I like the radio, but I like to listen to talking/discussion if I'm alone, rather than music

I prefer talking/discussion as well. I'm still trying to find stations for that. Radio 4 has a fair bit of talking but then it can be rubbish radio soaps and a lot of politics chat.

Agree about the radio - and I leave it on if I go out, it's welcoming to return home to.

Radio is good tip. I used to listen a lot to Charlie Wolf, MIke Dixon (?), Mike Mendoza on talksport back in the day, also Radio 5 Up All Night is sometimes interesting during late nights.

I don't tend to have time so much now but I always found talk radio (debates, discussions, etc) quite soothing.

I also think there is a serious lack of talk shows in the UK.

Iain Lee is back on Talk Radio weeknights. Talks very openly about his mental health & depression (in between the funny stuff ).

Personally I've found that hating the entire human race, which I can't belong to, has been more useful and more destructive than listening to the radio. A bit of a mixed bag then. Radio 2 you say. I should give that a try.

Oh god, a public person being "open" about mental illness is usuallyy the worst form of uncritical pap.

I used to listen to talk radio in the early days around 20 years ago. Ceaser the Geezer, Tommy Boyd, James Whale, Anna Raeburn.

I had no idea that James Whale was back presenting on it, will have to listen in again .
