How did you meet your current partner?

I've noticed a few 'in love' mood icons thingies so come on, how did you meet them?

And spill a little bit about both of your backgrounds too if you don't mind such as the degree of your SA compared to theirs, was there a matchmaker involved, P.O.F etc.

We met in school, I was 13 she was 11.. dated for a few years then split up for 7 years and got back together.. we've a 7 month old son together now.

Found him on a forum when I was bored, spoke on msn for months then his internet got cut off so he started texting/ringing me. After a year of speaking to eachother and him saying that he'd like to meet me, it still took me 2 or 3 more months to actually go meet him. That were it. I knew I loved him before I met him, but no one ever believes that.

I wouldn't have a hope in hell of meeting someone in person. If I hadn't met him then I'd still be single now. I have no idea what came over me that made me decide to meet him. I guess I just really liked him that much. So glad I did though, it's changed my life for the better.

First 'met' my hubby at high school when I was 13,we use to cross paths from time to time but we never paid much attention to each other as we were usually talking to other people on our way to lessons.We met up at a job training scheme in 1992 when I was 16,and the minute I clapped eyes on him I thought pwhoar(he was very muscly back then)later that day he made a beeline for me and my mate and got talking to us and I honestly thought he was making a play for my friend but he invited us both out to the cinema(he later admitted he was too nervous to ask me on my own for a date)I fell totally in love with him that day,and 18 years down the line we are still together-although we have had a few probs over the years-he is my rock who has supported me through various issues and vice versa.

I made a friend on one of the SA meets and weeks later we both decided to risk going to a singles meet on another site. When we got there we couldnt find the group at all and it later transpired the the organiser canceled the meet and quit as organsier two hours before it was due to start. Pissed off my friend suggested we take over the group ourselves which we did.

Our first meet was a disaster as no one turned up. By about our fourth meet, however, we got 20 people turn up including my future girlfriend. I ended up chatting to her and thought she was gorgeous. To my surprise I managed to pluck up the courage to ask her out and now we have been together almost a year

I am normally a non-risk taker and wouldn't think of organising anything (and to be fair my shyness/anxiety makes me a poor organiser in terms of socialising and meets and greets). However by meeting the right people and taking a few risks things are looking up

I think its best to look for friends first and foremost. The greater the network of friends the more likely you will eventually meet someone.

We went on sauk chat for the first time on NYE, chatted a few times in the short period of time he was on there, and exchanged msn's before he left.
After that we started chatting quite regulary and arranged to meet up when I returned from my hols, I didn't think anything more of it than friends.
When we met we got on much better than expected, seemed like we'd know each other for ages and it went from there

I think you can find a partner without friends but the more friends you have the more you can get introduced to different people which helps

I met mine on sauk too - in the chatroom. I wasn't at all looking for a partner at the time, we just got on well and eventually arranged to meet up and now its been over a year. Its not all happy happy happy though, as its long-distance and therefore its a strain at times.

I met my boyfriend on sauk and last.fm. We mostly recommended good tunes to each other for a few months and just general chit chat about how things are. Then he pm'd me when I wrote a thread about being really low and anxious. We ended up pm'ing most days, each time with longer messages

and helped each other get the help we needed as we were sort of at the same stage of our sa and depression. Eventually we started chatting on msn too, then spoke on the phone (wow that was scary

). By that time, we were both starting to feel that we could have something special.

I then finally met up with him in London last year, almost a year after we first had contact and had a great time. We've been together ever since but we have suffered problems both because of sa and also it being a long distance relationship but we are working on it.

I wasn't looking for anyone at the time, I was just glad I had a good friend to help me through some bad times, and he was too.

WOW what an awesome story. Just goes to show that as much as some people think it's VERY important to meet up as soon as possible to make it work..it simply is not true. If there is something special and rare there..then there is plenty of time to meet in RL. We're ALL different and we all think in different ways...so there is no point in some people trying to generalize.

It's also false that there cannot be true feelings between two people..before they meet.
