Watching the last episode of This is England '90.

^Me, too. It's really hard to watch in some places. It really hammers home the point about how damaging it is when a person chooses to go around enforcing their own personal sense of entitlement when they feel they are in the right or have been wronged: "I've got the right to do this because I was wronged, because this is my house, because you didn't tell me and I'm your friend, because I'm in the right that means I'm allowed to treat you like shit."

Just finished it now and I thought it was great. I highly doubt this will be the end though, given the ending, and the whole Combo issue.

^^You're right about the shit on the telly these days, British telly anyway; I can't recall off the top of my head seeing anything truly worthy of mention on the BBC or Channel 4 in the last few years (ITV doesn't even warrant a mention, there's never been anything that wasn't trash on that channel).

I actually thought that last episode was pretty compelling viewing though--I did shed a tear or two and it caused me to think a fair bit about the damaging ways people interact with each other.


I'm not a name-changer, I've just not been here for nigh on two years, and before that i skipped the odd year here and there. But hello to you, too, flumpsy.

I think Meadows has said that this was the last one, that the whole show was rooted in subcultures and that there haven't really been any that have impacted upon British culture since the early nineties so that's the end of the saga.


EDIT: Thinking about it the ending with Milky and what he did to Combo is a fitting one to tie-off the whole thing. It's like it***8217;s ended back at the beginning with the original victim becoming the oppressor, to continue with that story now would just be to tell the same story of Combo***8217;s journey.
