Default Do you use cash or cards?

I prefer cash but when I think about my most recent purchases..99% have been online and I even used a cheque in 2015.

Do you prefer cash? Card? Do you want a cashless society?

Personally I prefer my card but for small things, if I have any cash, I will use it. But I rarely actually have any.

I prefer to use cash and use my card at one of those machines that gives out cash

I hate those useless contact-less cards. Mine ended up paying for my groceries when I opened my wallet to get cash!

I still like cash a lot but use both frequently. I never use contactless unless the cashier gets arsey about it, I still use chip and pin if I get my card out

Self service i don't like using cash and only have done once - in bloody poundland where I was forced to move to the self service queue. Because I wasn't sure what I was doing it made me anxious (esp with ppl watching) and has put me off ever since. I don't mind using my card tho.

I like the convenience of using a card but it also makes it easier to spend too much, with cash you actually watch it leaving your wallet and feel the pain of spending money.

Much prefer card, cash is from the olden days. I give all my cash to mum and she transfers it to my account. Love contactless, just pay for anything by tapping your card, what could be simpler.

I use both. I've never used contactless, it scares me! I don't want to live in a cashless society.

Pretty much 90% of what I buy etc. Is all through card,
Trouble is, that means I usually have no cash on me most of the time,
I've felt a bit shit walking past tramps and charity collectors and just kind of shrugging inanely,
But I'm sure if I asked a beggar "do you have a just giving page" I wouldn't get a favourable response
This has been a problem a few times, so I've taken to having a few notes tucked in my mobile that gets me out of trouble,
Not sure I like the lack of security around contactless so make a point of not using it,
as most people have said though, it's far too easy to overspend when it's all card,
Something most retailers and credit card companies like about it too, no doubt

When I opened my bank account in 2014 It must have been about a week before they rolled out contactless, I swear the few times I do leave the house..I'm the only person without contactless and it feels like such a chore putting the number in so I generally stick to cash (once I get a new card in December I'll be 99% card) ..I suppose I could just request a new card now

Same. I don't have a contactless card though, like biscuits I've never been sent one.

I like the idea of using an Uber type service and other apps but i'm going to have to tackle my privacy paranoia.

My card has the contactless icon on but I have read it makes it easy for hackers/scammers to take your money.

I have one direct debit for phone/net and I like the convenience but i'm wary of setting up other DDs. My council tax bill was mucked up four times this year so I wouldn't want to give them that much control

I was watching a programme a couple of weeks ago and it showed a woman who had over £30,000 stolen (and her ID) because of her contactless. Scary stuff. It kinda makes me glad I'm not allowed a contactless card with my bank.

It does, but it flashes up quickly so it's hard to tell. Usually the gates will show the amount you have left on the card and the amount you've been charged when you go out, I think the amount you've been charged is in brackets, like this: £5.00 (£1.60)

I***8217;ve only recently started using my card more often in shops, I only used to always use cash because I was very SA about using my card and scared of doing something wrong, etc. I***8217;m getting a lot better at it now, I have contactless but I***8217;m still too scared to use that.

Mostly card. Sometimes cash. Don't like contactless and won't use it.

I pay for most things but card and my debit card is contactless. I do sometimes carry some money in my purse but not a massive amount, also have the odd bit of change. If i need money i usually get some out on the way to the shop, to pay for my lunch.

pretty much always pay with card, hardly ever have any cash on me. guess when i have to pay at checkout, with real live person rather than the self serve thing, then usually prefer cash, as it's quicker i think

I try to get cash back or rewards credit cards so I use cards as much as possible (which is nearly all the time now).

Cashless society means a more debt ridden society (easier to spend), further becoming more enslaved to the banking industry.
