Default New Deal Work Placement..

Anyone else on this, and if so how are you finding it?
Starting a work placement tomorow for 13 weeks, have no choice as is mandatory after signing for more than a year etc
I have chosen to work outdoors in gardening and landscaping, have decided working outdoors is for me, as love the outdoors anyway, always out cycling/walking etc, plus... there is always an escape route wont be cooped up in some open plan office. Phew.
Anyway I have no idea what they will have me doing, I'll probably be pushing a wheelbarrow around or sweeping up leaves

they'll probably just stick you in tesco's for a month then it's back to supervised job searching until you've done your time (speaking from experiance)

I'd rather die than get stuck working in Tescos (or at least get another job lol)
The New Deal thing I'm on is connected to a charity/volunteering/conservation project scheme thingy called BTCV, so outdoor stuff is what they do kind of thing.
That might only be in the south-west I don't know.
Some people on it have gone on to do quite well, so there might be hope.

My Dad done volunteering work with BTCV a few years ago and loved it. He done all sorts of stuff with them and even got a certificate in drystone walling and it made him so much more confident too It is a very hands on thing so you won't be doing the boring stuff like pushing around a wheelbarrow.

Goodluck with it and hope you enjoy

hi, i was on new deal last year i hated it, they put me on a course called tng and i was to attend that for 13 weeks for like 7 hours a day, i think the course was to improve job skills and at the same time find me a job. but it was hell for me. i only attended the first day and it was full of group disscusions, i didnt go back the second day and got a sick note from my doctor.
