I used to hate looking a lot younger, but it's definitely an advantage now.
I had the exact same thing happen to me at either the same or very similar age! I've always looked younger and can easily get away with looking ten years younger (I'm 46).

no. I got told I look like a "young boy" when I last tried buying beer from the co-op

though at my age you start to not mind so much!

I get ID'd a lot as well. Sucks (especially since I don't drive or currently have a passport).

Someone asked me again today what subjects I'm studying at college. I used to hate looking young, but I don't think I mind being thought to be 17/18 at the age I'm at now.

I look at least 10 years younger ( and I sometimes think I could pass for 15 years younger than my age were it not for the rapidly increasing grey streaks through my hair).

I have a portrait in the attic which is ageing.

I've just been to Germany on holiday with my parents. I'm 27 and got ID'd when my dad ordered me a lager at a pub...you only need to be 16 over there to drink. Even my brother didn't get asked for ID there.

The worst one was when we were buying tickets to get on the tram at the airport in Germany...a man was there to help people to buy tickets on the machines and my dad asked for 4 tickets, then the man asked my dad how old my brother is (16) and then turned to my dad and asked how old I am...when my dad told him he said "oh" and then laughed when he was told how old I am. I looked on the tram leaflet and the age for child tickets is 6-14...they must think I am 12 or something!

Hate looking younger.

I used to work for my dad and he used to constantly refer to me as his "lad" when talking to customers. I got asked by one "is this what you're going to do when leaving school"; I was 36 at the time!

Anyone with ginger hair looks considerably younger than they are. Shyness is also thought of as a younger person's thing, so people expect shy people to be younger. Can easily pass for half my age even now in my 40's.

Can be both a good and bad thing.

Here's one that does.

I just got back from the Isle of Wight with my parents and when a waitress asked if all 3 of us wanted wine my Dad piped up with 'oh yes, don't worry he's x years old now, I know he doesn't look it but he can drink all he wants' or something along those lines. I was so embarrassed. My SA is very much linked to it so it felt like a kick in the guts. He didn't even get my age right either which my Mum felt necessary to correct for the waitress, making me even more self-conscious. I'm sure they don't mean anything by it, I've never actually told them how down I get over it.

Until a few years ago I looked younger than my years.

When I was 22 a bouncer wouldn't let me in a pub until I got my younger brother, who was already in the pub and a regular, to vouch for me.

About 5 years ago it all caught up with me and I now think I look older than my years and feel much older

Apparently, without a goatee I look 10 years younger... mind you I probably look a bit daft with my goatee ATM since it's full of grey on one side and nice and brown on the other...

You may very well be right, yes. I've often attributed some of my own anxiety to the fact I look very young for my age (though my profile picture is from a couple of years ago now, so I don't look that for my age, but still a good few years I'd say) and the feeling that others may be treating me differently because of that.

I'm nearly 40 and I've been told I look 26-30.My Son is 20 and people presume I'm either his girlfriend or sister lol.I should be all wrinkled up with the life I've had..plus the years of smoking and drinking..although don't do that now.Mind you,I have always moisterised and been good with my diet so maybe that helped?

Someone told me at the beginning of this year that they thought I was 18. I am 26(although 25 at the time)...

I've actually read social anxiety is supposed to age you (or maybe it's more to do with the stress/anxiety..) but maybe that is wrong. I feel like there needs to be some kind of study into this!

Ooops, I just realised, I think I broke the rules by posting here. I just found the topic interesting...

I look about a thousand years older than my age. That makes me 1045. Not that long ago while walking through a shopping centre some stupid rude salesman git called me and my Mother over. He said something like, "Do you and your wife........(whatever it was)". I can't tell you how much I wanted to sink into the ground and die. I keep getting people lately assume I'm their age too when they see my photo. Twice lately 2 different people have done that on Facebook, and they were both in their 60's for goodness sake. As if I'm not down enough as it is.

I think I must be average. There are some men my age that look really good and put me to shame, but then there are others that look dreadful. I think I look somewhere in the middle
