This fight annoys me. Fury is fighting an MMA fighter, in boxing, while still at the top of the sport, and also clearly ducking Usyk (although apparently that fight is more likely to be signed).
And despite both being combat athletes, MMA and boxing are completely different sports and completely different disciplines.
Ngannou's boxing is extremely sloppy, even for MMA standards, so him stepping in a boxing ring, with no boxing experience, against the worlds best heavyweight is really weird, especially when there are elite boxers who have spent years fighting through the ranks for the right share the ring with someone like Fury.
I can tell you now how it's going to play out - It won't be competitive, Fury is just going to play with him in there. He'll only need to go 50% to beat an MMA fighter.
Though, what Ngannou does have is unrivalled punching power. Seriously, it's terrifying. He just needs to connect once and you're dead, that's all it takes with Ngannou. But good luck trying to land, as Fury is a master at controlling range.
Am I interested in this farcical exhibition fight between the greatest heavyweight boxer of our generation vs an MMA fighter with unreal ko power? Yes, I bloody am, a little bit. I'm not going to pay for it though. But I might.
