Fireworks
Did everyone enjoy listening to the fireworks last night? They were so loud here!

Re: Fireworks
Luckily we don't have big displays near here it will just be neighbours that do them and not too many. I've always disliked fireworks, even as a child. My pets aren't too disturbed by them and putting the TV on and a pheromone plug in helps.
I'm guessing they'll be happening again tonight as well. |

Re: Fireworks
I’d happily see them banned. Or at least only quiet fireworks allowed.

Re: Fireworks
We just had our local display at 5pm this evening. I live 5 mins walk away but get just as good a view from the house. It was good.

Re: Fireworks
I used to like fireworks as a kid, but now, IDK, it's like staring at a Windows 95 screensaver or something.

Re: Fireworks
Do people feel differently about New Year fireworks? I feel like I find them quite uplifting for some reason!

Re: Fireworks
I absolutely love them! A wheeeeeeee and then a mass of stunning cracking beautiful colours
Totally get why some people don't though. I'm lucky enough that my tiny Chihuahua who whinces when you go to stroke him sits on the window ledge watching them haha |

Re: Fireworks
I always found them boring as a child and never understood what the appeal was supposed to be, and as an adult feel no different. That's a good analogy from AL, they are like watching a screensaver.
It seemed like there weren't as many this year as there used to be, which is a good thing since my cats dislike them. |

Re: Fireworks
I liked them as a child but I'm not keen on them now and certainly wouldn't bother venturing out on a freezing cold evening to see them. It wouldn't be so bad if people stuck to the 5th but it's distressing for animals when loud fireworks are randomly going off on lots of other days. I'd like to see them banned for sale to the public and only available to the organisers of big events.

Re: Fireworks
Getting so …. annoyed (must remember to use Lounge language) about fireworks.
Someone decided to let off fireworks in the field next to me at 1am last night, meaning my sleep was completely disturbed (even more than usual). My day at work has largely been a write off because of a bunch of selfish…. sausages. Ban the lot of them, I don’t care if that annoys people. |

Re: Fireworks
^ living near a main road I never sleep without earplugs. Even when not sleeping at home I use them, you just never know when some random noise is going to happen/disrupt sleep. Not practical for everyone I appreciate though.

Re: Fireworks
^^ Every year round my way some idiot lets off fireworks after midnight on the days before or after November 5th. I'm sure they do it because they get an immense pleasure out of disturbing the sleep of other folks. I think such idiots should be strapped to a huge rocket and fired into orbit

Re: Fireworks
I imagine if the practice of fireworks were respected they would get much less hate. I don’t play much with fireworks but it most feel great if one knows how to manipulate fireworks in a creative way causing minimal harm.
