Do you believe in ghosts?

Personally i dont.

Although i once had a experience that almost changed my mind.

It was a couple of years ago and i was wandering around the bathroom brushing my teeth. I was feeling pretty down and i tend to pace when i'm down, after a while i lent on the door facing straight ahead staring out the window. I turned my head to the right and something walked through the door right next to me! It was about my height and translucent (it looked like water or glass), it was humanoid but had no discernable features, no hair, no nose, eyes or mouth, just completely smooth. As soon as i saw it i jumped out of my skin and it promptly dissapeared.

For a while i was convinced i saw a ghost, but looking back i probably drifted off a bit. I was tired and had just finished watching most haunted, which would account for why i dreamed of a ghost. I do find it a bit hard to believe that i could fall asleep standing up without dropping my toothbrush though , but if i believed the alternative i would never go in my bathroom again, which would be awkward

I'm "agnostic" when it comes to ghosts, I think maybe they are something we are simply unable to comprehend yet in our present day scientific understandings, cold energy maybe or radio type signals from the past? *shrug* Animals such as dogs and cats seem to generally pick up on "energies" us humans are unable to see and sense.

Not anymore. I've always loved reading stories about ghost sightings and such, though. Lots of castles and manor houses out there with good stories.

Why are people scared of ghosts? Is there any recorded incident of a ghost actually hurting somebody? If people see a ghost then maybe they should just be friendly and say hello and try talking to it.

I'd love to see a ghost, paranormal stuff really interests me. I know most ghost sightings and experiences don't usually stand up to scientific scrutiny but there are those certain cases which remain unexplained...I'd love to go on a ghost watching night or guided ghost walk sometime, apparently there are quite a lot of haunted locations round here.

Well, I can't say for absolutely certain that there is no such thing. But I have yet to see any compelling evidence for the existence of ghosts. All the evidence currently available is anecdotal and either easily explained in non-supernatural means or impossible to verify.

Thus I take the position that they do not exist, on the understanding that that position is open to revision should new, more compelling evidence present itself.

I don't know myself. I like to believe in spirits as such but the rational side of my mind says no. I'd love it if Angels and Demons were real though.

I don't believe in ghosts, the afterlife, UFOs and all the rest of it.

I have an endless fascination about them all though. I can't explain this.

Then again, I don't believe that rabbits can talk but I still enjoyed Watership Down. I can suspend my disbelief for two hours.

Things would be so much more fun if all these things existed

I've had contact from one or two people after they've died,.. so, yeah,.. wouldn't call it ghosts though,. just newly-disembodied spirits who were saying farewel to their loved ones.

I Don't believe in ghosts, despite being very fond of Stephen King . But I had a similiar experience once myself. Strikingly similiar. Felt something jump on me in the dark, felt its weight on me and froze. After what seemed like an eternity, managed to jump up and hit the light. Surprise surprise, nothing there. I've really put it down to drifting off and it being a kind of waking nightmare. Frankly I think the existence of ghosts ranks about as likely as genuine psychics or politicians telling the truth.

I like to think of myself as very rational and sceptical but I've experienced things which have scared the shit out of me and I wouldn't totally dismiss the notion that places can be 'haunted'.

Well after being in a house where the doors slam shut and fly open at will, seeing a few flouting balls of glowy light right infront of my face, oh and hearing my dad beckoning me downstairs really loud and clearly after he died...yeah, i'm willing to believe!

I don't anymore but a couple of funny things happened in houses I lived in when I was younger. The houses had a creepy feel about them and I would be scared to upstairs or be alone

I have, very close up! either it was an actual ghost or somebody playing a very elaborate prank!

But, have had other less-obvious experiences as well!

I think there's strange mental, physical experiences that can occur at certain locations, or times. But generally don't believe there are ghosts.

I think it's human nature to reject to idea that when you die you cease to exist. I can't imagine never thinking again. I like to think that the electric sparks that fly between braincells and around your body contain the essence of a living being and when you die that energy is discharged into the universe, is free from the constraints of the physical body and becomes part of the collective conciousness of every living thing. I realise that I'm starting to sound like an insane hippie cult leader but whatever. Anyway, that collective consciousness might choose to manifest itself in various ways in front of the living, who knows.

The law of conservation of energy states that energy cannot be destroyed only changed, so i guess it comes down to if the human consciousness is energy or not?

I like to believe in the afterlife, but think it's mainly wishful thinking. I have heard how the afterlife (heaven) is filled with so much love and I would to feel that (it makes me think of that character on star trek deep space nine, that shapeshifter, who melted down into the sea of love).

I have had some unexplained experiences in my life too. In fact it's not just me, but my partner and some of his family and some of my family have experienced unexplained phenomena, including 4 witnesses to one of these one afternoon.

So from the above, I personally think there is something. I like to think that my loved ones are around me when they have passed on, and I wouldn't be able to cope with thinking that they are gone just like that, when the rest of my loved ones go
