Over 40s - Libido and interest in dating.

I'm not sure why but my libido and interest in dating, has severely dwindled over the last year. I'm 41, so I'm not sure if it's a "coming of age" phase or sub-consciously I simply can not be bothered or do not care any more about coupling up with someone.

Part of me is quite content with being single nowadays, plus I do not feel pressured to be in a relationship, have children etc fortunately, anyone relate?

It's like a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

I am 10 years older than you and at 42 I had just come out of a LTR that had become toxic in its dying months, that has put me off looking for another relationship, after the split and I had a series of short term relationships or one night stands and during that time, I was introduced and became involved in what is termed as swinging, and had encounters with between 3 and 5 people of both sex's at house party's, (hot tubs have a lot to answer for) at the time it was fun, but looking back on that now it is not something I am proud of.
I have found the more sexual activity one has the more you want / need, however if you put sex on the back burner and that includes looking at porn the less you want and need and you become more accepting you become of your solo life.

It's difficult for me..i'm 46 but i've never had a relationship or dated anybody..Unfortunately my sex drive seems to be higher than ever..i keep waiting for it to subside but it never happens..bit frustrating really.

I have mixed feelings about this. I've had relatonships in the past that have come to nothing but I've always craved a loving, emotional and sexual relationship. I'm 41 now and feel this is how it's going to be from now on. I get bouts of strong sexual frustration.
