Re: Do you ever worry that you'll regret not having kids?
^ Well yes but there's no way of asking the baby at the time
Although it has been proved that trauma during pregnancy and birth does have an effect on the baby, aswell as generational trauma actually being passed down through genes. |

Re: Do you ever worry that you'll regret not having kids?
Sorry Dougella, I never properly replied to your reply about grandkids above! Thank you I do try not to worry too much about the grandkids thing, but it does cross my mind at times, particularly when I see everyone else's parents enjoying their grandparent roles, and my parents still have me stuck at home like a big kid myself :/

Re: Do you ever worry that you'll regret not having kids?
Woman's hour on radio 4 are talking about "Aging without children". They are discussing all the older people who don't have children but are still assumed to have family who can advocate for them, when often they don't. There is even a charity AWOC Aging With Out Children.

Re: Do you ever worry that you'll regret not having kids?
^^ That's a very blanket and untrue statement.

Re: Do you ever worry that you'll regret not having kids?
I'm a 33 year old woman but in my mind I still, in so many ways, feel like I'm still 17. Not in the body, oh no. The body's main occupation nowadays seems to be finding innovative ways to remind me of its unstoppable downward trajectory.
I know I'll regret not having kids because I regret many things I didn't do when I could have. On the other hand, I know very well that those things never got done because I had solid reasons not to do them at the time. I have many solid reasons for not having kids, and very few good reasons to have them. If I ever happen to change my mind within this narrowing timeframe of opportunity and end up giving birth, I'll know I succumbed to the primitive parts of my brain and ended up throwing all of my principles out the window. |
