Default Quick question.

I have written a CV.
I did it by following a guide.
One section to include is 'key skills'.
I am stuck on this.
I am thinking of leaving that section out and printing a few copies to give to shops before their "HELP WANTED" signs disappear.

Should I do that, or should I give them in another day when I have thought of something to say under 'key skills'?

C'mooooon, you can answer this!
I will totally make it worth your while.

It depends on the type of job you're applying for, for what you write as your key skills. I currently have two CV's written up. One for applying for weekend work while at uni (I've got an interview tomorrow so it must have been ok) and my professional CV, which I add my technical skills to. I'm studying computing and have completed a year's industrial placement, so I add skills to that CV on a regular basis.

Applying for jobs in shops, you could always list key skills for good time management, good team player, good communication skills etc etc...

I might consider deleting it if it was on my CV. Or you could change it to 'summary' and put underneath it something like "friendly and approachable team player with good telephone manner" or something relevant to the type of work you'd be doing. Even if you feel with SA that you're not those things - just put it anyway lol. Hope this helps.

Ta.

Hmrrmmmm

I've written this:

Key Skills:
- always concerned with the interests of the customer
- naturally cooperative communicator
- efficient and loyal team worker
- punctual and well organised
- good telephone manner

Does that come accross alright? I just can't bring myself to say I have 'good communication skills', y'know? The skill is exactly what I don't have.

Maybe it sounds a bit.... i dunno...... ..... crap? Do you think they'll buy it? Or does the unusual wording suggest my being an all round inexperienced person?

Should I call them 'key qualities' instead of skills? If I say 'fast typist', will they wonder why I haven't put my numbr of words per minute?

I've put it off another day. I hate it when I spend a whole month with the same 1 hour task at the top of my to do list.
Biggest waste you can have. No reason why I shouldn't have it ready for tomorrow though... says I with a knot of tension tied b'tween my lungs. God, WAY too much like university.

That reads really well IMO. Might be worth getting 'reliable' in there too; the bane of retail management is staff who have a lot of time off sick etc.
