I once thought i had found a dead body in the New Forest. Scary stuff.

It was a bleak winters day and i was roaming about with the dog through the forest. It was quite marshy this place and i hadn't walked there before, it was a struggle finding firm ground sometimes. I was thinking about turning back when we came across this channel of water/trough and something caught my eye. There was a pale looking lump submerged and i got quite a scare wondering what it was, a real hair raising moment. It didn't stop me from looking closer though, so i hesitantly moved toward it.... and poked at it with a stick.

Well, turns out it was an animal carcass of some sort, maybe a pig or something, i can't remember - looked very much like you see dead human bodies under water in a film. It really spooked me... made things interesting for a bit though.

I wish there were more of those incidents in my life, i kinda like being spooked. I guess that's some of the appeal to ghost huntings and all that jazz, haunted houses/areas, that eerie feeling is something else.

I found a dead dog with it's eye hanging out floating in the canal once.

If I found a body I'd almost certainly be banged up for it.

Anyway, I want to look forward to backpacking but I can't.

I can't because I want a lovely wench to come with me, which is impossible.

The goal of bagging a summit isn't working for me at the mo.

Continuing to tweak my daily routine to include meditation, exercise and healthy eating so that OCD no longer has a place.
Becoming a good programmer (and electronics/technical worker)...eventually...
Getting a kitten.
Passing drivers' test, could be sooner if I had the money.

No, Boy. I'm going with my partner. We are hoping to see the Northern Lights if we can. Might have a bathe in the blue lagoon too.

Thanks purplerose.
I believe Northern Lights spotting can be rather hit and miss, but hopefully they are on show while we are there. At least we will be in a good place to see them if they do show up.

Jinny, I hope you get there at some point. (the northern lights/Iceland, not the blue lagoon with my lady).

One slight irritant is my favourite Icelandic band (VOK) are playing Reykjavic just a couple of days before we arrive. It would have been great to see them play, especially there. A few years ago we went to Prague and a British band we like (HURTS) were playing Incheba Arena in the city while we were there so I booked it. What a fantastic night that was.

Fingers crossed you see them, if I had to make a bucket list, I think seeing the Northern (or Southern) Lights would be at the top, I literally can't imagine how awe-inspiring it must be to see them over a snowy landscape in Scandinavia

You paint a stunning picture there. That would be beautiful.

Thanks! It sounds like Iceland is a place a lot of people would like to go to. I agree on the prices. It's been an off-putter for us in the past. My partner is a bit of a genius for finding good deals when it comes to travel, so I leave all that stuff up to her.

That is definitely something to look forward to! Nothing like a small-ish amount of time where you know you can have a break and get your head together a bit. Enjoy

I ordered some DVDs from Amazon that should arrive today or tomorrow, and I have pizza in the fridge for dinner. Ah, I'm easily pleased.

Well I don't feel as excited as I was before about it cause I'm feeling pretty crappy and down on myself right now, but getting my DBS form back (finally after 5 weeks) means I can now start volunteering at the organisation I hoped to help out, so that's something to look forward to at least, waiting around for the form felt like stagnation in my progress which has been frustrating.
