At least you got a few friends from therapy. I have never had therapy. I think the group that use to meet in Belfast met in a bar which does not really suit all people.

Getting therapy is easy enough - ur doctor can easily organise it for you tho you'll probably have to wait a couple of years

Actually I'd say Northern Ireland is probably the most SA part of the British Isles. Through the old group I must have met about 20 over the years and we got about twice as many enquiries.

We used to have a social group (as opposed to a formal therapy group) running in Belfast, the problem as deno says is that it met in a bar which a lot of people weren't comfortable with. The only real alternative we could think of was to meet at someone's home, the problem then being that people are unwilling to give out their home address to strangers.

Anyhoo earlier this year it had gotten to the point where only 3 or 4 people were turning up to the meets (we had almost 10 turning up its height) and so they fizzled out. If there's enough new interest we could try to get the meets going again, but the problem still remains, where to meet other than a bar?

I only had to wait about 3 months :D But that was years ago when CBT wasn't quite as widely used as now.

I live in waringstown, craigavon. I work from home and really enjoy my work but outside that i haven't the confidence to contact people and get together with them. This really annoys me. I have struggled with this lack of confidence al my life and no one seems to understand it. I recently feel like like just giving up.

Well it looks like this thread is going very well, which is great to see.
You would not be able to pull a response like this together in London and there's 13 million odd people here.

What's the population of Bangor?, I hope it's at least 30 million

Bangor's a large town beside the sea - Nice town with plenty to do! I'm just back from London and to be honest I found it a bit intimidating cos its so big and there's so many people that think they are the 1. But it was nice to have seen it - Plenty of opportunities for people without SA!

I'd love to work from home - I'm trying to motivate myself to start up a business using my skills as a beautician and massage therapist
