Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)
I'm just thinking about how I've just waisted three days of my life stuck in work when the vast majority of the industry I work in are closed until the New Year. As predicted, there has been literally nothing to do (barring the first few hours on the first day - and that was purely clearing a backlog from the previous week...) and 'the powers that be' sending van loads out to customers who, surprise surprise, are closed... Sadly, it's the same story every single year. It's not only cost the staff more to come in (i.e - fuel costs), it's cost the company man hours, electricity, heating and diesel for the vans.
@Professor Willow - Welcome to your late 30's. I'm 38 in April and no doubt the usual 'birthday blues' will kick in sometime over the next few months. I wouldn't worry about doing nothing. I've done very little for the best part of 20 years...and not normally through choice. |

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)
Doing night shift with that doesn’t require much socialising.
I notice with my current job my sleep issues aren’t the worst they have been but have gotten worse. I notice I leave the job feeling anxious or ashamed. I’m feeling like I shouldn’t have to put up with a job that makes me feel this way. I’m currently a kitchen porter/assistant. Journaling I just realised this is the wrong job for me though it didn’t feel so wrong before. Because I’m climbing the wrong career ladder. I never enjoy when a chef asks me to help peel veg or potatoes. I’m not super enthusiastic about learning to make some of the pub food. I don’t hate cooking but wouldn’t want to do it as a job and am not really that good at it. I don’t mind washing the plates, pots and pans and keeping them organised and my area neat. |

Whether to have a flu jab.
Although I'm not in an at risk group I'm really not feeling great physically or mentally lately and it might give me a bit of reassurance. |

^^ we have similar illness anxieties. For the last three years, I've paid to have the flu vaccine. The first time I had it my arm went completely dead and ached! This year it only went a little bit tense. If you meet certain criteria e.g. having asthma, a high BMI, preggo then you can get it on the nhs for free.

How much did you have to pay for the flu vaccine biscuits?

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)
^ Boots are currently doing them for £16.99 but Tesco are £11 reduced to £5 if you have a clubcard.

Didn't realise you could get them over the counter at Tescos

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)
I paid about £16. Then got an email at work saying we can have one for free! Typs isn't it
It's £9.95 in boots at the mo, Professor, if you book online! ^^ yep - a pharmacist is allowed to administer vaccines. |

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)
I'm getting my hair cut on Saturday. I've been having the "silent service" for some time and now it feels a bit awkward. It's not so bad when the salon is busy. Last time I was the only client there and kept getting the urge to suddenly shout, "BUH-NAR-NUHZ!" That's why I've picked a busier day so it's buzzing and I won't feel so self conscious for being silent.

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)
^ I get things like that when I'm somewhere quiet with lots of people. Usually images of myself standing up and shouting something like 'bogies' at the top of my voice. Dick and Dom have a lot to answer for.
Sounds like you've made the right choice going when it's a bit busier. I go to quite a laddish, hipstery place (in a shipping container) with only one barber. He offered me a beer when I was last there a bit before Christmas. I didn't know what to say other than, 'no - I'm homosexual.' But I just awkwardly declined. |

Re: Type what you're thinking about right now (11)
That sounds like a cool place. The place I go to is a bit hipstery too and I always feel very under-glamourous, their bit of scruff.
I misread that when he offered you a beer that you Rishi Sunaked him and said "no - I'm homeless" |
