Re: Do you have any goals for 2022
The usual rollover, plus the therapy, but I think that was a rollover from last year. Since I have lost my oomph once again, it seems it's the old breaking down goals into smaller and smaller chunks, then writing it all down, then remembering to look at what I've written down on a daily basis, and ...er ... keep at it.
I've also been giving some thought to the gay citizenship process. Of which the main thing that has to be done is coming out. Which is a thing that has to be done. And I'm a bit stuck between clinging onto a fig leaf of dignity and desire to be in control, and going, oh, sod it, just so I can socialise. But it's a sitcom problem now aka, not a real problem. Which is nice. And how much other stuff do I have to give up to claim my citizenship? That's what I'm wondering. Because it's about sanity now, and sometimes, to hold onto what remains of your sanity you have to give up a lot of other stuff you really cared about. Hopes, dreams, ambitions, promises, obligations, values, your old self and the direction that self wanted to go in. I learnt this a long time ago. But I'm at the stage where I am half going, I'll pay whatever it costs, sign anything, just give me my gay citizenship! |

Re: Do you have any goals for 2022
Although I did post briefly here whilst in Tenerife, I thought I should review the goals for 2020 and 2021 threads, to see what I did achieve in previous years: at the end of 2019, I mentioned being three stones overweight and then a year later, reported that I'd lost that weight. As I enter 2022, I need to lose a stone again. I did manage to travel throughout 2020 and although I didn't go abroad in 2021 (at least, not until the end of the year), I did manage to visit pretty much every part of the United Kingdom - and the Isle of Man (which is, technically, abroad). In 2022, travelling remains problematic (testing, self-isolation, entry requirements and/or being unable to enter certain destinations - and most pertinent of all, the risk of a destination being put on the red list whilst away, resulting in very expensive quarantine) but I do have some plans and will probably find a way to do at least one long-haul trip.
Last year, I mentioned not having been to a gig throughout 2020 and although I had to wait until July, I've managed to attend quite a few during 2021 and have even more booked for 2022, so that was one goal achieved. However, I didn't achieve my goal of improving interpersonal relationships - I actually ended the year with one less friend than I started! I was active on meetup and with the Ramblers and most active with my local CAMRA group, so I do have social outlets, but still seeking that elusive connection which turns an acquaintance into a friendship. There were also efforts at rekindling my romantic relationship and on more than one occasion, I thought things were going well, but I do have to realise that part of my life is over. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I've not set any specific goals for 2022, but I do want to build on the progress of recent years and looking back at those old threads has reminded me that I did manage to do that in the past two years, even if it felt like events beyond my control had held me back; whatever restrictions apply this year, I'm sure I'll find some way to keep moving forward. |

Re: Do you have any goals for 2022
I might go to the gym a couple of times and then forget all about it and start a pie-only diet.
That's if I really put my mind to it. I don't know if I have the mental discipline and commitment. |

Re: Do you have any goals for 2022
Bought a udemy course and enrolled in some basic free ones. Will I be bothered to do it? I'll try to try it out. Most seem like video tutorials so shouldn't be to hard

Re: Do you have any goals for 2022
Anything interesting? I was looking at some courses yesterday and found a popular introduction to front end development one on Udemy that I might buy. But like you, I wonder if I will actually be bothered.
The few times I've bought online courses, the positive feeling I get from buying the course, is enough to increase my mood, which in turns makes me feel like I don't need to do the course any more |

Didn't buy course but bought supplies and watched a few YouTube vids on how to solder. Bought a practice board so start on that. Likely be a disaster. |

I didn't have a goal at the beginning of the year. I've started playing the piano again though (not completely sure why I stopped)

Re: Do you have any goals for 2022
1) I want to complete Spanish course on duolingo, I'm halfway there.
2) Get down 13 odd stone, a stone to go 3) Work on informal mindfulness (ie staying mindful all day, in all aspects of daily living). Been trying ten years on that tho ha. |

Re: Do you have any goals for 2022
set no goals. 2022 has had it's upps and downs. A fantastic mini-holiday with a friend from sauk in Cornwall. Broke my duck and found work for a couple of months. Grief has improved a fair bit after the loss of someone. (undisclosed). Got a new nephew. Getting marginally better at hot summers. A new meetup group didn't work out, but it was worth a go. (better than curtain-peeping). Found about 10 new walks end of 2022 which is going to be great giving them a go next year. And that's about it.

Re: Do you have any goals for 2022
a friend from this forum who doesn't really use this place now. A really great adventure at Cornwall. My duck- I was 8 or 9 months unemployed. So it was good to break that, alas unemployed again. Yeah my sister popped a baby, after a miscarriage. So she's a fully-fledged mother now to her delight.
An alright 2022 Dougella? Or Jen? Or anyone? |

I made very few of my goals for 2022. The highlight, though, was getting a new job that I like.

In terms of SA - I attended two fun meets, which took a lot because I was incredibly anxious. It shocked me because I wasn't expecting to be quite so anxious - even though the clue's in the name: social anxiety . |

I'm sure you'll be employed again, I know you've been applying for a lot of different roles. "Popped a baby" I'm sure she's very happy if she really wanted to be a mother. Being an uncle (or aunt, I don't know which you identify as) is probably fun too I imagine, especially when the baby starts to speak and can play. Yes I had an alright 2022, I managed to attend my Mother's wedding which was the main event. Saw all members of my immediate family which was nice as I don't live nearby anymore and one of them lives in Canada. |
