Do you like your own company ?

Hi Everyone

Not sure how to phrase this do you like your own company?? Don’t you feel lonely ??

I hate being on my own , can’t really stand it , but on the other hand I don’t like lots of other people... I need to be with someone..

Like you, I usually don't like lots of people but I don't like being all alone either. So knowing someone is in the next room suits me pretty well most of the time.

Hmm I need contact with ppl and I do get lonely but I do seem to need a lot of 'me' time too. More than average certainly.

In general I'm quite introverted and don't really need other people. Now and then, however, I can be overwhelmed by loneliness. When that happens, it's like suffocating. In fact, I have literally gasped for breath at such times.

Yea. I can't think straight around too many people and get drained by struggling with too many voices talking all at once. Sometimes it's easier than others. Not to say I want to be alone all the time but I do need time to myself to deal with it all.

I know people that can't be alone and I know it sounds a bit horrible but I can't deal with that. They don't necessarily want your company, they just want you there. Like a warm blanket.

I need a lot more alone time than being with people

I suppose working with people for 40hrs a week fulfills my people/interaction quota for the week so I could quite often spend the weekend on my todd with no real human interaction and feel absolutely fine with it (it annoys me more than I waste them really)

Occasionally I do need a bit of a social thing but I'm usually fine without.

Yes, I do like my own company; I'm probably happiest when I'm alone 70% of the time and with others 30%.

I can't really relax properly or really be myself when people are around,
And being amongst lots of people really drains me, and I need a break,
Conversely, I'm usually very relaxed and at ease in my own company,
But on an emotional level, it feels wrong and quite sad to spend so much time alone,

It always seems such a quandry, like catch 22,...
can't live with people, yet there's such an emotional need to connect too.

Yes practically since leaving my parents home i've lived on my own, i don't mind it but sometimes it does get abit lonely esp when those dark clouds are forming but generally i do like my own company as i don't have to worry about anyone else!

My best friends are my parents (and that's not sarcastic). I love my own company; I've sometimes had pets (better company and intellect than humans!).

I can't say I've ever been truly alone (I've almost always lived at home, so usually my parents are kicking about) so I don't know exactly what it feels like, but I do like being alone more than I do being with people. Usually I need to be in the mood to spend time with people, whereas I almost always feel in the mood to be alone.

Not that I dislike people or anything, but I just don't have the energy to sustain hours and hours of chat, day after day. I just like it in short bursts, with the knowledge I can escape back to my alone time.

I'm highly introverted and really enjoy my own company although do need human connection from time to time. I just prefer my connections with people to be deep, meaningful and fun to me as they tend to energise me more but yeah I do enjoy alone time. I'd be happy with a weekend at home pottering about without seeing anyone but I don't wish to spend every weekend like that.

I am never more at ease or happier than when I am on my own. I really dont know what loneliness is as I have had anxiety from a very young age and am now 37 so I am so used to being alone it doesn't bother me even slightly. I get more jealous knowing others are out there enjoying life while I am sat at home but lonely.....no.
