I think I might be a psychopath, a psychopath who was just brought up extremely well to be polite. I don’t seem to feel anything except fear. My anxiety has reached extreme levels that even I find worrying. I’m beginning to see no way back to myself. Constant guilt and shame, I cannot enjoy myself or express myself. Social events are awful, people are so extroverted and intelligent. I’ve often read posts about people linking SA with high intelligence but that is not true for me. I think a lot of my struggles are related to lower than average intelligence. I read a spirituality book and tried to be more ‘giving’ but I just feel more and more awful about myself, that I’m fundamentally a bad person who had to work very hard to be a good person. It is exhausting.

It turns out my parents are planning on retiring soon, selling their house and moving back to the US My mum says she wants to spend time with her parents (they're in their 80s). I've now got to spend my time here for Christmas going through loads of stuff from my childhood to see what I want to keep and take home with me. This feels awful. At least my sister will still be in the UK, although she doesn't live near me.

It's highly unlikely you'd meet the criteria for psychopathy if you predominantly struggle with anxiety, lack of affect and feelings of low self-worth. (Though these things may underlie the early development of psychopathic traits, most won't have insight into it.) It sounds more like you're struggling with depression to me. It might be worth speaking to your doctor about it if you haven't already. I hope those feelings pass for you soon.

I'm feeling like a big idiot (and I really am).

Like a twit. Just got a phone call from my counsellor wondering where I was!! Supposed to have an appointment at 10.30am. I however had 2.30pm (are usual time) firmly planted in my head
She's said to come at 1.30pm instead.

I'm happy and relieved that my most difficult Xmas socialising is over, some more still to go, but I have hope it'll be tolerable. I like Xmas in lots of ways, but some of it is so hard.

^^ I know exactly how you feel, I have felt like this at Christmas many times in the past. I usually manage it by disappearing to my room for a couple of hours in the afternoon to recharge.

One year, I was at such a low point at Christmas, I couldn't stop myself crying at the table while we were all having lunch. The worst thing was that it ruined everybody else's Christmas. I was a such a low point I couldn't stop myself.

Fortunately I only have a brother and sister left now, so their is only for of us for lunch, bad news is I have to cook it, which really stresses me out. This year has not been a good year for my MH, I just hope I get through tomorrow OK.

I am off this week, which helps me as when people at work go on about what they are doing at Christmas it just makes me feel even lonelier than I am normally. All this wish people the best for Christmas, just feels so hollow.

Had a nice day. Went up to Mind, we all went off to a cafe for tea/coffee/whatever had a good laugh. Afternoon went to the hall and just sat chatting. Cheered me up to be around other ppl and out of the house.
My neighbours still out/his van isn't here so at least I'll get a little bit of peace, well till he gets home. I'm getting to the point again of just not wanting to be at home.

Well I've had a not so bad Christmas Day, better that I thought I was going to. I had massive anxiety about cooking the lunch this year, even though I've done it for the last 5/6 years. But everything was ready at the right time, and it was all cooked well, everybody said the really enjoyed it. I must admit when I started mine I wasn't sure but I really enjoyed once I got started.

I went overboard this year with the drink, 1 glass of sherry & 3 glasses of wine with the lunch, which more than I've drunk in the last 6 months!

I am feeling a lot better than I did yesterday and this morning, fortunately don't have to go relative visiting or anything, so we have just had a quiet afternoon in digesting the lunch.

I will still be pleased when tomorrow comes as that's the end of it for another year.

^The sherry I wanted from Sainsbury's wasn't in stock at any of the 4 branches I checked on any of the occasions I checked, so I didn't get any. I'll keep checking for it and buy a bottle for next year.

I've been ill the last few days and my Spotify ran out today, mum was being a bit of a twonk, as always, I also had problems installing a game from the windows store resulting in me having to reinstall windows twice. Considering that, I'm feeling pretty ok.

^ Guilt and shame really make depression a lot worse, or atleast that's what I found. We can't help the problems we have, we wouldn't have them if that was the case. Anyway, I'm rambling but I hope you can feel much better, you have no reason to feel guilty.

Slightly pi55ed but better for it. Just had a good old chat with Mrs about the toxicity of Facebook. We've got friends (lol) who posted their Christmas pictures with jovial family and friends. It didn't look like our Christmas. But, they are different people, with different scenarios. For example their parents aren't widowed and bitter. They've had help through the years rather than being helpers for like 25 years. No point in comparing "achievements" (be it material or friendship circles or whatever) with people who have a totally different support network.
