Re: Small things that make you smile
Living in a country where "you are so beautiful and white" is a thing. The Chinese person I was with ended up chatting to them and later tried to explain to the men who said it that where I am from, it is not usually a case of the more pale you are, the more beautiful you are and instead people actually want to become tanned. These three men just didn't believe her, it sounded so crazy to them. I forgot how much I enjoy compliments about my appearance. I just need to lose a ridiculous amount of weight and then I would be popular in this country. There's nothing like men complimenting your physical appearance to make you smile. Oh how I need validating. What a world we live in.

Re: Small things that make you smile
Even when my cat sleeps away from me (i.e. Not on top of me) she rest her paw on me. She never sleeps without touching me. God I love her so much.
Edit: fixed gigantic pic. Couldn't do it on my phone. |

Small things that make you smile
Starting my new unit on myths. I'm starting off with Greek mythology. Gonna act out Theseus and the Minotaur. Do a conscience alley activity for Pandora and her box. They've just created their own mythical monsters. Gonna write a diary as Persephone in the underworld. Hercules and his labours and Perseus and Medusa haven't yet quite been planned but it's gonna be awesome. And I nearly forgot Icarus. We need to squeeze him in there. Then we are gonna move on to different constellation myths, get some Egyptian Gods in there and then go for some Roman myths with Romulus and Remus. At the end they're gonna write their own myth. I bloody love this part of the year. It's my favorite. I wish we could just do this all year. What is better than mythology? Not much.

^ We're practising our hand-eye co-ordination and fine motor skills by picking up pom poms with a pair of tweezers. We're definitely teaching different age ranges

^I never did any of those cool things at school. The most exciting thing we ever did at school was grow some cress on a bit of cotton wool.

Re: Small things that make you smile
Something that made me smile today. One of my young nieces said “Diolch yn fawr” (thank you very much) after I opened some Play-Doh for her. (I had to ask her what it meant though as my Welsh is practically non-existent.) No one round here speaks Welsh either. I’m not patriotic at all, but I do quite like the Welsh language. And she's such a sweet kid that it sounds all the nicer coming from her.

Re: Small things that make you smile
I went to bed early last night cos I was tired from seven days in work and when I woke up my husband had sent me messages. He was in the next room all night and then in bed next to me but cos our sleeping didn't match up he messaged me on wechat. Now I want him to wake up so I can cuddle him.

Re: Small things that make you smile
Feeding the ducks. I've found it way more enjoyable since switching from bread to peas and sweetcorn cos you can scatter them over a wider surface area so they tend not to fight over it like they did with bread which left you feeling bad about any ducks that didn't get any.

I'm with you on the sweetcorn and peas thing too. Bread is the bird equivalent of junk food and can actually cause a problem in birds called Angel Wing. Although they'll stuff their beaks with bread, it actually offers them very little nutritional value at all. We buy big bags of frozen peas and sweetcorn then thaw it out. They love it and get lots of nutrition from it. Also, we buy a 15k bag of bird seed from Home Bargains. It's only £3.99 and the ducks and swans go crazy for it. Good quality nutrition for them too. |
