Default Depression vs Anxiety

I seem to find that if my anxiety is missing then my depression is bad and if my anxiety is going ten to the dozen then my depression is off somewhere else and not noticeable.

Oh for a day of neither! Perhaps I'll get one soon. The older I get the worse my mental health becomes. I think naively I believed the opposite would be true.

Ah well, nearly bedtime.

If I have to choose,it would be anxiety. Better to be uptight than sad.

Mine seem to go together. I'm not sure which comes first. I suppose both of them are with me in a mild state all of the time. Does an anxiety flare up cause the depression to get worse, or does feeling depressed trigger the anxiety. Not sure. It's all pants!

I think when I`ve been depressed in the past I`ve not had the energy or capacity to be anxious, just totally numb. Whenever I make progress on one problem another (which has maybe been dormant for decades) suddenly pops up to become the new main issue and f*** my life up in a delightfully new way.

I'm the opposite. The older I get the more upsetting I find the anxiety and I feel much less in control than I used to.

I had anxiety and depression since I was 14 year old. After 30 odd years I am not sure if my depression is causing anxiety or anxiety is causing depression,
kinda chicken and egg situation.

Anxiety comes first for me. When I can't overcome my anxiety, I avoid doing things. Then life is pretty empty, which makes social contact potentially embarrassing - creating more anxiety and avoidance. It's a downward spiral. Depression comes from being stuck in the bottom of the resulting hole I've dug for myself.

It's made worse these days by the parade of 'success and normality' on social media.

A sleepless night and depression is here sitting on my shoulder. Sad to think of the things that have past. Nostalgia is bitter sweet and it only takes one bad apple to poison the well.
