Default Your favourite characteristics for cats?

I like black cats most with or without white patches, having mostly had one at home. Until recently, there was a tabby here, so like them too. On balance longhair cats are more attractive really. No particular preference for male/female, though my parents have always had girls and an unneutered tomcat would probably be a nuisance. I don't like Siamese, they don't seem like proper cats somehow, nor plain white. The Turkish Van sounds like an interesting breed to own, as it's one of the few ones that likes water. I used to pick up the cats here and take them outside in pouring rain for a joke, which they took fairly well. But obviously didn't like it.

I like short-haired ones best. Any colour but I do like black ones.

They have to be "feline" looking if that makes sense. To me a feline look is sleek. Not necessarily thin, (most British cats unlike their Mediterranean colleagues aren't thin), but distinctively athletic and "cat like". A squashed face isn't "cat like". Any moggy or athletic breed of cat of any colour just looks the part. I also prefer them to have hair, so again Sphynx cats are out of the question. Any aberration such as Scottish fold, again no. Cats with folded ears are born from time to time, its a natural but rare occurrence. But to actively promote a deleterious mutation is cruel.

Ones that stay off my driveway and don't piss all over my tyres.

This is Molly at the farm I volunteer at. She is I'm told a Maine Coon cat. She's big, but maybe not quite so enormous as some photos I've seen of them!

You should meet my Blake. There isn't a person in the world he dislikes. He kisses up to the vet, and happily climbs onto anyone's lap and purrs like a traction engine. Soppy sod.

I like all cats, but I do have a soft spot for black and white cats (I have three).

Just don't leave him in the same room as me alone. He'll rip my throat out. Cats do not like me

What a handsome beastie she is! There's a cat just like her who lives up my road who really is enormous with a big swishy tail.

I love pretty much all cats- at the moment I have a black and white cat with a pointy rat face and a tortoiseshell with a flat teddy bear like face and they are both the apple of my eye. I think I am too obsessed with cats but I can't seem to help it.

I like black ones, white ones, black and white ones, tabby ones, tortoiseshell ones, ginger ones, short haired and long furred...

And even ones without fur!

Since I was a kid I've had pretty much every kind of cat going and although they may not have all won prizes for their looks, like people, they've all had their own very special and unique personalities. Nothing beats taking in a frightened little stray, giving it lots of TLC (and dreamies) and seeing it blossom into a loving and affectionate companion

At the moment, I have a fluffy black and white cat and a little tortoiseshell. Sadly my lovely old tabby cat had to be put to sleep a few months ago. This morning my neighbours not so well looked after cat came visiting and spent much of the day on my bed. She's a beautiful black fluffy girl who I would kidnap (or is it cat nap) if I could. I'd hate not to have cats in my life and am sure I will add more to my menagerie in the future.
