I haven't done anything like that, because when such things were available, I was on a (long) waiting list, but then even more funding was withdrawn and now nothing is available. There is a meetup group in Nottingham for socially anxious people (where I used to meet a lot of people with severe difficulties), but since local night-time bus services have been withdrawn, it's no longer possible for me to travel the thirty miles to Nottingham and back in the evenings.

I have to say that I found the meetup group very beneficial, but the issue with such groups is that when people feel that they are more capable, they tend to move on and then it's like starting again with different people.

You can get sort of courses and workshops.

I went to an assertiveness and confidence one once. It was pretty good. I'm fairly assertive, so was there more for the social confidence side of it.

It might be worth emailing your local Mind to see if they have anything your after. Im sure they could point you in the right direction.

Well the sorts of thing I mean are lead by someone so they keep people in check and set out the rules. It's very guided in terms of discussions and little tasks that you have to do. There's not an awful lot of freedom to go off task. Plus everyone else there will struggle socially as well.

And we were always told not to socialise with the group away from the group because being strangers was important. Being told not to socialise - RESULT! haha
