Default How much do you spend on grocery shopping per week (single persons)

I struggle to get it below £35. I am always amazed at those that can manage to only spend £12-15.

It depends where you shop and the kinds of food you eat. Have you tried Lidl?

£35 sounds about right to be honest, unless you are living on pot noodles

^ I haven't been in Lidl for several years. I used to like their frozen paella.

^ I won't shop anywhere else now, cheap doesn't always mean bad quality

When my wife was alive and well we used to shop there quite often. She was a good cook of mainly plain fare ie nothing too exotic. If they ever went into the online grocery business(I doubt it due to cost factors) I would definitely shop there more.
What puts me off going in there is (a) Getting stuck behind several people with massive trolley loads of stuff (b) The fact they rush the stuff through the checkout which is not good when you are all fingers and thumbs when it comes to packing at the best of times, and the fact it's a small packing area.

People only spend £12 to £15 a week, I live with my parents and I still spend more than that!

I suppose over £40. It's hard to say as I sometimes buy stuff in bulk and don't always get shopping every week (other than say milk or something I've run out of). I freeze stuff like bread.

Food tho is the weakness in my budget . I like to try different things and on occasions cook stuff to give it a go.
I don't smoke, only drink now and again these days and have a pitiful (ie non existent) social life so I suppose I'm not spending on these things.

Same here. Food is my one luxury though I'll have to try and cut back If I don't get PIP.

I haven't shopped for one since the mid-nineties but back then I had a budget of £15. Now, for a family of four, I spend approximately £80 a week.

I spend £25 per week. I make a list of what I need and stick to it.

Me too. I always make a list and largely stick to it but I can spend anywhere between £25-£50 per week just for myself.

I waste too much food as I buy the ingredients for something then only need say half the sauce and the rest goes off before I need it again. I should plan better really.

On average around £25
Actually, my grocery shopping is usually for more than a week so it's probably more like £20 or £22. But I am diabetic, there's no cakes, biscuits, sugary drinks or alcohol.

I spent about £25 on my shopping today, but I'm not sure that'll actually last me a full week. Maybe five days or so. Probably works out to about £30-35.

I'm sure I could make it a lot less, but food's one of those simple comforts I don't like to mess with too much. I could make myself miserable just trying to save a tenner per week.

(Actually... God... I'm rummaging through my bin now for the receipt... I spent £23 and that'll probably last about 6 days, I reckon, so a little better than I thought)
