Well done on the weight loss.

Just out of interest, how high was your blood pressure at its peak? I was diagnosed with very high blood pressure during a routine medical recently - 197/125. Medication (5mg Tritace) has got it down to 140/90.

Thanks, Ray.

Mine was around 160/90. Glad yours has come down, that was very high! Mine's about the same as yours now but goes higher if I'm anxious. I get white coat syndrome when they take mine, so I bought a home machine.

I just added another tablet to the list I'm on as I forgot about it. It's Atorvastatin for high cholesterol. Hopefully I can come off some of those wretched tablets as I improve my health with diet/exercise.

Feeling so hopeless and powerless. Although I've been weaning myself off the lorazepam and have only been taking a quarter each day, sometimes less, I took a whole one last night because I'm not coping with the stress. The Vet from the hospital phoned to say that the biopsy results of the nasal lesion didn't show up anything malignant and that she is of the opinion that my cat could be suffering with chronic rhinitis. This is actually far far far worse than it sounds. Currently she is barely eating or drinking, supposedly because she's lost her sense of smell, and she's losing weight rapidly. Tonight her back legs gave way and she is struggling to stand or walk. It was distressing to see. My beautiful girl has been such a tremendous source of comfort to me this past year or 2 and, as sad as it may sound to others, she's helped me cope with the death of my mum and my son leaving home. Life doesn't bare thinking about if I lose her now. I love her so much

^/^^ Thanks

Stressed. I wish the workmen would go. I don't want them here when my cat is so poorly but they said if they postpone work for a few days it will badly disrupt the workers and other customers. I could scream!

Waiting for the Vet from the hospital to call back again is agony. If we need to take her back to the hospital this evening I fear she'll never come back home but I can't watch her suffer like this.

I have no faith in the Vets at all with their contradictory opinions and it feels like raking in as much money as possible has become more important than their animal patients. Also, I don't understand how chronic rhinitis (a problem with her nose) is causing her to not be able to use her back legs. Nothing is making sense here

What an absolutely crap year 2024 is also turning out to be

Relieved. My mum had surgery today to remove a lymph node and it went really well. She is 80 so I was worried about her!

It's good to hear that your mum's surgery went well Angela

I'm feeling heartbroken. My beloved cat is back in the animal hospital tonight and things are not looking good for her at all. I cried in front of the vet and she said she'd phone tomorrow. I'm not a believer but I'm praying for a miracle anyway.

I don't want to feel anything anymore.
£8,000 spent to hear that there's probably nothing more they can do for her. She's now lost the use of her back legs. My poor dear baby, what am I going to do without you for love and comfort. I might see if I can bring her back home so she can have her final sleep here with the person that loves her.

^ So sorry it wasn't good news Consolida . They usually do allow pets to go home and have someone come there instead.

I'm so sorry @Consolida, pets are family too and how lucky your cat is to be part of one that loves her so much

I'm feeling like some animal emerging blinking into daylight at the end of hibernation, albeit tentatively. Just coming off the back of a few days of hormonal migraines and hormonal craziness and I think I feel a bit more like me *crosses fingers and hopes*

Thank you so much for the kind words above guys.

The vet says she can't do anymore more, as several things seem to be going on in her little body, but the sudden collapse of her back legs could be indicative of a slipped disc, a blood clot, or a tumour.

Whatever, my poor baby deserves some peace now. I feel so blessed that I was able to share some of my journey with her in this life for 11 years. How lucky that my path crossed with this quirky loving tortie girl of mine. She was the BEST.

I don't know how I'm going to cope with saying goodbye for the last time to her today, hopefully being in zombie mode might lessen the pain As the workmen will be gone so she we can have some quiet time.

Just held her in my arms as the Vet put her to sleep for the last time. I hugged her in my bed until she stopped breathing and everything was still. The vet tried to take a pawprint and a small lock of her fur. I just want my furry quirky Tortie back again. She was the BEST ??????

So sorry to hear this Consolida.

As traumatic as it was, I’m sure that was the most peaceful way for your cat to go, and would have been really comforted by being held by you.

Thinking of you!
