I'm feeling groggy - just as I do most winter mornings during the week.

I'm tired of getting up in the dark and getting home from work in the dark .

I feel as though I'm living the life of a mole.

Not good enough. Not interesting or cool enough. Like an option. An option at the bottom of the list.

very jaded, everything seems a bit pointless,
life just scares and annoys me and seems like a bother, a duty I have no interest in,

going to spain on sunday and have no enthusiasm for it and am just nervous about it and sort of dreading it

I would kick myself up the arse, but can't seem to reach,
I wish I could just enjoy things rather than fretting over and basically dreading everything.

Dead inside...I suppose

Not that I'm particularly "depressed" or anything..just...kinda on auto pilot. I'm struggling by on not much sleep (couple of hours a night if I'm lucky) generally feeling shit but accepting it as normal, doing too many hours at work, having no real social life or any interest in getting one. I have no idea what to do, everything seems pointless/waste of time and I feel its already too late to do anything in my life despite being early 30's

..But as I say, not really depressed about any of it

Weird one.

Anxious, waiting on my lecturer marking my assessment. The minimum word limit was 500. I wrote 2000. I hope it's not too long.

Ignored...

It's one of those days where I feel as though I could strip naked, strap a flashing beacon to my head and start dancing on the tabletop without anyone so much as raising an eyebrow.

Why? Well, I've tried to hold two conversations at work this morning and got talked all over the first one... I'd get four or five words out of my mouth before my sentence is taken over and twisted in a way it wasn't going to be said. In the second one, I was completely ghosted even though it was a subject I knew a lot about. I was basically talking to myself in a room with five other people.

Yet, people genuinely wonder why I deal with both Social Anxiety and Depression .

But this is all my fault according to some, apparently...

Miserable and ashamed of myself I***8217;ve tried getting up but when I do this feeling of dread and sadness just hits me and I get back into bed. It***8217;s the only place I feel safe, it***8217;s like if I***8217;m in bed then the day hasn***8217;t begun yet and I don***8217;t need to face it. I haven***8217;t even washed in days. I can***8217;t find the motivation to do anything but exist.
I hate that this is my life and I***8217;m such a pathetic loser. Everyone else manages to cope. I can***8217;t even stay out of bed, let alone go outside and interact and contribute to society. I feel so disgusting. My life has gone so wrong and I***8217;ve no one to blame but myself.

@ Hayman - It sounds like you often go out of your way to be chatty and friendly with your work colleagues. If some of these people talk over you or ignore you it’s most likely because they are thoughtless and insensitive not because of anything that you are doing wrong. Sadly, it’s the people with the biggest and loudest voices (and often with the least meaningful things to say) that get heard the most. Like you say, it’s not always our fault

@ Clementine - You could be talking about me there. I spend more time in my bed than out of it these days Like you, it’s because it’s the only place where I feel safe. I wish I had something helpful to say but it would be hypocritical of me to give advice when I’m not following any of it myself. You mustn’t feel ashamed though for feeling the way that you do. Depression and anxiety is an illness that can take away every little bit of motivation and suck all the joy out of life. I think when the weather improves we might feel more inclined to come out of hibernation

Struggling. My last lot of anti-depressants haven’t helped so I’m being put on some newer ones that have come out because I’ve pretty much tried all the others. So I’m taking nothing at the moment until the new ones arrive on Monday. I’ve been warned that extreme nausea to the point of vomiting is a common side effect. I shall look forward to that

Thanks for all your recent comments about my dads funeral day, and it did go as well as these things can be. I have been full of cold with a hacking cough as a result I positioned myself in this very informal Humanist service at the back so I could 1. not spread my germs and 2. if I started coughing I could slip out and back in again without too much disruption as a result my dads neighbours and carers were uncomfortable that they were up the front, however as a result and I didn't need to slip out and I didn't feel as if everyone was watching me. As for the wake I was able to keep and conversations fairly short be saying I don't want you to catch my cold....RESULT!

^ Glad it went okay, Les. Hope you’re alright, hope your cold clears up soon too, keep warm!

@ Muggins, thank you. I’m sorry you’re feeling the same way, I think (and definitely hope) that you might be right about the weather making a difference.
Good luck with the new meds, fingers crossed that you don’t suffer with them

I’m glad the day went as well as a funeral for a loved one can do Les.

It’s not often that someone can say that having a cold with a hacking cough was a good thing but it sounds that on this occasion it served you well. With this Aussie flu thing going around noone want’s to get too close to someone with the sniffles. I might start coughing next time I’m accosted by a shop salesperson

Anyway, I hope you are baring up after such a difficult time. Look after yourself

@ Muggins – Thanks for that, I do appreciate it. This morning was just an example of how genuine effort made simply doesn't work for people like me – and it's incredibly difficult to get people, who don't have social struggles, to see that. To them, it's all our fault, told everything is our fault, we need to make effort (which ironically is ignored by them, or 'downgraded' at best) and another common one – we shouldn't feel so 'entitled' , which smacks very much of someone being obtuse. You're made out to be the 'bad guy' each time, every time…

I accept that I'm not going to make in-roads with this lot because of the stigmas they hold against me. However, outside of family they're the only people I know – so I'm a bit stuck, really.

A lot of days go by where I expect this ignorance from people. It's happened my entire adult life, but there are the odd days where it really does smack me in the face. On days like this I feel as though "Why should I even bother trying?!" . Say that out loud and then what I said in my first paragraph is merely repeated again! A continuous, lifelong, catch-22 situation!

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear about your depression. I know I've been 'teetering' on the edge of it again in recent months and I've probably sunk back into it. Fluoxetine has seen positive effects on me in the past (doesn't change my luck or the raft of criticism I face, but makes me care considerably less about it all). Of course though, everyone reacts differently to different medication. A side effect of extreme nausea? Crikey… I'm surprised they're allowed to prescribe something with effects like that.
