I often find Youtube comments funny in an untransferable way (as in, if you try to tell someone else why it was funny, it sounds anything but...).

It's just how random, often self-important, other times, plain ridiculous they are.

Eg. I was watching clips of the PS22 choir (brilliant non-professional school choir in New York) and one of the comments was something like, "I'm going to prison tomorrow (not for anything really bad) and watching this has really calmed me down."

I love it, I wish I had the patience to find gems like that but I can feel myself getting high blood pressure when I read comments. 90% of videos have something racist on the first page...

Licking the spoon (& bowl & whisk & pot) clean of cake batter. Pretty much the only reason I bother baking.

Yes it is very sad, I hate say it didn't surprise me. I don't much like that lot.

Yeah I don't hold it against all their fans, especially seeing as my brother and other family members support them sadly, but at least they condemn that kind of behaviour. I would say I have met more unsavory fans though. I suppose it could be said of most fan bases having there fair share of morons.

Edit- Oops, just noticed a similar discussion in the Football Season thread!
It's my fault i took this thread off on a tangent.

Which coincidentally is a small thing that makes me smile, my ability to take things off track without realising.

Back on topic, phew.

Two news stories this week:

1. The 'cat burglar'- a black and white cat called Denis who stole bras, knickers, shoes, and even a football. It was baffling me how he carried the football home and got it through the cat flap.

2. The Waitrose Twitter campaign, 'I shop at Waitrose because...'. My favourites were:

'I can't stand poor people'
'Clarissa's pony simply will not eat Asda Value Straw'
'In the Hampstead Heath branch I heard someone shout 'Put the papaya down, Orlando!'

My neighbour's two-year-old grandson (one of them) whose boisterous behaviour at nursery caused his mother to be given an 'Incident Sheet'! I think that is hilariously over the top!

There's nothing wrong with an author branching out though, and if they're bad at it who cares?

The aggressive rebranding of Rowling as a grown up author is silly though, and has even including her slagging off the Potter legacy lol.

I'd say that's basically true. Harry's a pretty awful character, Ron and Hermoine ok, Voldemort a bit silly but ok, Snape good.

The way my dog gets really excited at the sight of moths and chases them around the house, jumping to catch them.
I feel bad for the moths, but it's really cute.

There is nothing so easily enraged as a hardcore Potterfan

What happened before, in the fanfiction world there's a core of Potterfans who 'pair' Harry and Hermione. They call themselves 'Harmonians'. At one point I think Rowling put in a little H/H moment and was excitedly asked if H & H would end up together. She said that was a little 'delusional', (which it was, with all the Ron/Hermione buildup she'd been doing) and they all went mental. Utterly batshit.
There were tears before bedtime!
I never got why Ron never had a go at Harry for snogging his underage sister? Harry was in sixth form and Ginny was about 14 when they got it together, I seem to remember?

Tom Daley.

Something about that kid's grin makes me laugh everytime I see it. Plus the fact that he's so obviously head over heels in love with himself but pretends not to be.
I also found the fact that he talks to himself on the top of the diving board rather endearing.
