Default Picard Pilot episode

Big 90's Star Trek fan that I watched all 3 Star Trek series at the time so was looking forward to seeing it in the future timeline not the past like the recent films or Discovery that didn't disappoint.

Anyone else seen it yet? What did you think of it?

I have enjoyed it

I think a few die hard trekkies are trying to pick plot holes in it and calling it rubbish but think its generally been quite well accepted?

I'll certainly be watching the following episodes

Theres a lot of fan service with his earl grey tea and Number One dog

Deep down I hoped it was more of The Next Generation, but ah well, he is ..79? guess hes allowed to be retired!

I liked it and am looking forward to see where it goes from here. I'm a long time Star Trek fan so I had been a bit sceptical about it after STD ( haha ) The Federation isn't the forward thinking organisation we left at the end of 2379.

Temba his arms wide.

I have a lot of love for Next Generation. It finished in 1994 but i swear there are many, many episodes that stand up - and often exceed - the quality and originality of so many of today's TV and film offerings.
Picard's dialogue in particular was often superb.
And those sherlock holmes episodes just sent me into a tizzy.

I want this new series to be decent and this first one was pretty pretty good.

Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra bitches!

I really liked it and was glad to see some `new` Trek stuff, since I stopped watching after (I think) the last series of Enterprise and the last TNG film. I struggle to get into prequel stuff.

Enjoyed the little nods to the lore, and it definitely piqued my interest to see more. Please be good

Any thoughts on the second episode? I thought it was ok,weaker than the pilot or maybe I was just a bit out of it. Hope they're not going to knock us over the head with earl grey references.

Tons of story explanation in ep2, not much happening.

I love the weekly wait, much more value gets attributed when you're not allowed to binge

It can only get better...

I preferred episode 3 to 2...

More seemed to happen to progress the characters and plot this week,so hopefully it'll keep on building

^ Oh god

Thats one of them moments when your sure you recognise someone but can't quite work out where they are from

Then you do a bit of math and work out it can't possibly be her because shes much older now and that was only a couple of years back..only it wasn't..it was 10

It's not an easy watch is it

It's very slow & pedestrian at the mo

The actress play Dr Jurati seems outta her depth, either that or they're feeding her poor dialogue

Stuff needs to start happening

This is really turning into quite a chore to trudge through, and is nowhere near meeting the promise I thought the pilot had. Even the acting is grating on me now, with even Picard seeming really hammy . Maybe it's just going to take 173 epsiodes to set up the plot and introduce the characters and it will get better later? Although I thought the pilot had kinda done that. It's certainly feeling a bit unwieldy.

I'm hoping :

Aside from the all the plot and character oddness, why does Narek (sp?) always look like he needs a good wash?

Yeah I got the feeling from the last episode it was starting to feel like a fan fiction series.
Even the look of Star Trek in the show just feels derivative now like every other sci-fi show.
Will watch the entire series but hope it gets better especially seeing how 7 of 9 is on the show now.
