Ableton live, cool ! Iv never used it myself but I keep meaning to check it out, I'll have a hunt on-line.

I've seen people use it live to good effect, though Iv also so seen people use and abuse it for live / DJ sets. Just because u can pitch something up and make it fit, doesn't mean it sounds good

Have u used for live sets or DJing ?

no i havent used it for djing yet, havent mixed two records together in years but i'll get round to it someday when my set up is right, at the moment i'm using a cheapo laptop with a pair of samson rubicon monitors, dont even have the outputs for djing anymore but yeah alot of djs seem to be using ableton these days, i think sasha uses it now along with a custom built mixer... or did for a while atleast

Just managed to check out the tracks there, I was pleasantly surprised, was a bit worried what I was gonna hear, going by some of the stuff posted in the Rave / Dance thread

Ekko - Not exactly my kind of house/techno but defo had elements I liked . The over all production was very, very good. Got some skills there man !

Clive - I really liked the 1st two tracks, my kind of thing, the guitar works really well at points. Loved the strings in James Bond. Id defo liked to hear more if / when u have some.

Over all highly impressed - keep up the good work people

Great production Ekko, not a great Trance fan but still good to listen to.

Really like those track Clive. Similar to some of the stuff i had done but not as heavy. Did you use samples or not? I've become bored with samples now and wanna create more of my own sounds but finding it hard to get create what i want.

Thanks for the kind words, chaps.

My stuff is very sample heavy (apart from "Ten"). The first track is pretty much entirely made of samples, the only things I added were the bassline and a bit of synth. I didn't have any particular sound in mind, I just jammed a load of stuff together, and saw what I could come up with. It ended up sounding like DJ Shadow, who i'm a very big fan of.

Does anyone have any tips on programming good, strong, phat basslines? I think they're the main thing my music seems to be lacking...

clive: i think for the kinda music youre making checking out one of the big sample based instruments like sprectrasonics trilogy(i think that might be the bass one, they have a few) would be a good place to start, my programming skills are pretty basic and i still use alot of presets in my tracks but sometimes for a phatter bass i will layer to bass sounds one with more high end and one with low and then filter off some of the highs on the low bass and the lows on the high bass if that makes sense, just try to blend them together untill ive got something i like...
