I used to study Geography at A-Level and have always had an interest in travel so I do like a good rummage through a map

Did anyone used to enjoy watching Treasure Hunt with Anneka Rice back in the 80's? I used to love that show!! I was only a kid then but used to enjoy seeing her trying to navigate to different places in a helicopter while trying to read a scrunched up map

Brilliant maps! Interesting to see what the world could have been like with alternate histories!

I do this a lot. It's a lovely cheap way to see the world.

Have you ever played that Google maps game where you have to guess the locations? If not you may like it: https://geoguessr.com/

I do the same for Bogotá and Mogadishu. Sometimes if you're lucky you can find a freshly butchered terrorist's corpse (though the killjoys at Google usually blur those images - boo!).

Well, I was going to post that no, i don't really like maps. But...having seen Appear and Olly's maps, I think I've been converted. Yes, I do like maps. And I especially love the book 'Mpas,' by Aleksandra Mizielinska.

Meh, I know I know. Mpas, maps, I noticed the typo too late. I struggled with maps, but managed Mizielinska.

Anyone done the flight simulator on google earth? I love exploring the oceans; the Monerey Canyon, the Mriana Trench and many other features.

I also have a lifelong love of maps. Maybe they suit the SA brain.

I think I'm starting to like maps - I should not have started reading this thread!

I genuinely can't fathom how many people can't 'read' maps. To me, it is as natural as reading a book or building a matchstick-model of Elizabeth Tower by following the assembly instructions. What is difficult about it? I know people who have no idea about their bearings even when looking at a map of their own neighbourhood and insist on a 'long cut' to get to the nearest Post Office even when I show them the map and explain to them their folly.

I love Google Earth, having a 'walk around' somewhere new I'll be visiting always puts me more at ease with going.

Yes, the favelas surrounding Sau Paulo are always a good tour. They have to blur out all the blood stains and corpses, though.

I love naps. I could have a nap right now, and I haven't even got up yet.

Yes, Thatcher had a rare disorder that made her ears pathologically and excruciatingly sensitive to 'rumbling' and 'clattering' tube train vibrations. And since she conceived and directed her schemes of world domination (or at least the war crime of sinking a fleeing Argentine warship in international waters) from a bunker 100 feet below 10 Downing Street (and worked unsociable hours), she first attempted to have her bunker soundproofed, but this only accentuated the voices in her head, so, Plan A having failed, she stopped all off-peak tube services instead. It was tragic.
