Why my mum gets a Winter Fuel Payment. She gets £1300 p/m in pension etc. and spends £12-18 per day on wine, she's far from being in need of help.

^ I think I'm right in saying that all pensioners get the winter fuel payment, even if they're very wealthy.

Yes, it's to do with age rather than means. It's a ridiculous waste, there must be a better way.

^ I think it would cost more to means test everyone than to just pay it to all pensioners, so that's what they do! (Your Mum spends a lot on wine by the way, it's expensive to be an alcoholic.)

Yes, she could have bought her children a house with the money she has thrown away on wine. I guess she loves wine more than her children.

^ That might be one for therapy there. Alcoholics can't just stop though can they, it's a really difficult situation.

She was born in the 50s.

^^They can just stop, but most are weak willed hence becoming addicted in the first place. I honestly don't think she's bothered, doctors told her she will die soon due to the drink, so I think she just decided to carry on as is.

If the leftover bits of a mercury amalgam filling are classified as hazardous waste, wtf am I doing letting the dentist put the shit in my mouth?

Addiction isn't down to being weak willed, I don't think, it's because of things that the person has been through in their life that are difficult to cope with. Aswell as the chemical addiction that happens.

It's dangerous to just stop drinking on your own, you usually have to go to detox and rehab right? But I guess that help has to be available and the person has to accept it.

Having my desk by the window is not good in winter. It's too chilly.

There was a fight between two women in Greggs today, then the boyfriend of the women who came off worse came and punched out the other woman even though he was surrounded by security guards.

These are the types of people that use the shop I work in.

My ex asked me to go fit her shower screen. I can't be bothered to be honest, so I agreed ofc.

It's highly probable.

I don't think it takes much with these people given that there is no real punishment.

^^ I think I would find it hilarious if someone threw a sausage roll at me, although it might depend on the context!

^ No-one calls me lass either, but I don't think I'm living in the right area of the country.

People who have friends don't realise how lucky they are.
It must be so nice to pop down the pub for a pint or go for a coffee and a chat in town.
Or someone to chat on the phone with about random crap.
I wish I had friends.

^ I think a quality of a good friend is when someone has an unexpected windy incident and they burst out laughing, or add their own anecdote that they trumped so loudly the other night that they scared the dog.

Our dog does that, he looks around as if to say "what was that", and then sniffs his own bottom (I'm sorry to have brought down the tone of the room).
