It felt like they took a really childish conception of AI (human-like robots) and slapped a poorly thought out action movie on it. It was so logically inconsistent and lazy. Technology progressed to the point we could produce robots as intelligent as humans but there's apparently no facial recognition technology or ability to detect a metal tunnel cover in a field - because it's convenient for the plot. Videos can be faked and robots made to look like people, but the main character immediately believed a video that appeared to show his wife was alive. 'All AI' was eradicated in the West, so presumably everyone's Alexas had to be thrown out, predictive text turned off and so on... but autonomous bombs on the battlefield are fine. The girl can control technology with her mind without touching it, but needs to touch a barrier bot to get it to open. I rolled my eyes so many times. Unless I'm missing the point and it was meant to be like it was written by ChatGPT? Files alongside Avatar: Way of the Water. |

What does bloated mean when referring to films? It's something seen twice on this thread now. Does it mean a bit long winded in the middle or that you're expecting someone to do a long fart at the end of the film?

^ I really liked Men, I enjoyed the combo of funny and weird grotesquery. I get the Nic Cage thing, but you might be missing out. Ken Barlow's son does an amazingly batsh1t turn in it if that helps.

Plane
I'm sure this will be just about watchable. Gerrard Butler playing an extremely unconvincing pilot whose plane crashes in some dodgy Indonesian(?) war-torn island - some plot involving a convict trying to help escape, who i'm sure it turns out has better morals/code of conduct than everyone else. Perfect Friday night viewing! |

Enjoyable film. About the legend of 300 Spartans facing off against a million Persians. A good blood and guts film. |

Nice little film. Whoopi Goldberg is excellent as always. Has a slight undercurrent of religious recruitment to it |

Re: Rate the last film you watched (4)..
Not a film per se but three episodes making a film length.
Time season 2. Season one was Sean Bean in a men's prison. This one is Bella Ramsey is a women's prison. Season one was utterly excellent and season two is just as amazing. Gritty and realistic. |

Better than the first. A little predictable but still very pleasent. Whoopi again was excellent as usual. |

Not a completely different film but certainly an interesting look at the Donner version. I don't know which I prefer. They're both good. |

Not Oscar winning and probably dramatized in places but a nice adaptation of the story of Rosa Parks. |

Quiz Lady
At first I thought this was going to be a TV series, but it kept going on for some time and then I realised it's a film baha. This film has Awkwafina (), Sandra Oh, Jason Schwartzman and Will Ferrel. Will Ferrel is fairly contained in it - I usually find him over the top and off putting, but in this he's tolerably quiet. It's a nice, easy watch. I enjoyed it. |

Old Dads (Netflix)
Was worried it'd be some schmaltzy crap; it wasn't. Probably 20 mins too long but some genuine lol moments. I'm going to give it an excessively precise 7.75/10 |

Re: Rate the last film you watched (4)..
^ So, probably 65/100 fittingly enough?
The Killer - I was trying to think of another action thriller type film with a main character this cold. Even films where the character bumps lots of people off, they're usually (at least vaguely) battling the bad guys. The character in Leon, say, is still an endearing oddball who targets baddies. But the protagonist in this is just a complete psychopath. I'd give it 8/10, or 4/5 if you prefer. |

7.165/10 on The Killer for me. Fassbender is always watchable. The acid test is, would I watch it again in two years and one month, and the answer in this case is yes.

Saw X
Like most people I loved the first film before they descended into just torture porn. But I had this and needed to kill a few hours so I thought screw it, I can half watch it whilst playing on my phone. Two hours later the movie ended. A genuinely really good movie. Whilst the traps are gross, there's such an interesting story being told and for the first nearly half the movie, there's not a trap in site, just great story telling. Surprisingly pleased |

Anatomy of a Fall
Was hoping to like this, but it was interminably long - in fact at one point I almost nodded off in the cinema. The kid and the dog were great, though. 5/10 |
