Merritt and Tembo
I don't quite understand how you two are not living your best lives. You are both extremely smart, funny, witty and kind and deserve to be happy. |

Re: How is everyone feeling? (31)
Parents usually have unconditional love for their kids. They just essentially want you to be happy and struggle problem-solving when it’s not the case. You should get some driving lessons Merrit that will give you something to talk about maybe.

Re: How is everyone feeling? (31)
Really quite stressed. I am moving back to the UK in about 10 days and canceling everything and all the admin that seems to be required for moving is insane and then I don't know if I've left myself enough time for all the packing and cleaning that is required, it's just all a bit much.

Ah, Switzerland. Is it nice? Why are you coming back?

Re: How is everyone feeling? (31)
Switzerland is very pretty and clean and public transport is amazing, the whole swimming in the lakes and rivers and popping on the train to go snowboarding aspect is lovely but it's not home. It's also quite difficult to make friends when your language skills are pretty much limited to asking for a return ticket to Berlin or a kilo of tomatoes. It is incredibly difficult to integrate if you don't have an outgoing personality, which I don't so it makes for a very lonely existence. It is time to come home to higher taxes, worse weather and woefully bad public transport.

Re: How is everyone feeling? (31)
^ wow that's so exciting that you go the chance to live in Switzerland! Sorry that you found it challenging to feel at home there.
I wish I could think of something wonderful about the UK to counter your accurate assessment |

Apart from the white dog turds we've basically reverted back to the 1970s since you were away. I think ration books are being introduced next. |

It's going to be weird because I miss lots of things from the UK here, but I know as soon as I'm back I'm going to miss how efficient everything is here. |

Re: How is everyone feeling? (31)
LittleMissMouse, well done for living abroad. Its something I'd like to experience one day, but not sure i'll ever have the motivation or guts to do it. I know it hasn't worked out, but its something you can look back on and hopefully be proud of.
There are positives to returning to the UK. Such as, erm... i'll get back to you on this one..... *goes off to scrape a barrel* |

Genuinely at a loss as to what to do with myself.
I can't cope with the utter futility of it all. Is this what a mid-life crisis feels like? |

Not too bad. Bill Bailey did a bit about this. You're standing next to the abyss, you're not in the abyss.

Re: How is everyone feeling? (31)
Stressful day at work. Got abused for no reason. Brushed it off as amused but it's since been replaying and i desperately want to get back in some way. I don't understand some people and their motives, they're so bizarre. I'm so sure this guys bark is worse than his bite and the moment i make a threat he'd shut the **** up. The thing is i will boil over if i do retaliate and it'll get ugly. Should i let it slide (again) or talk to management (again). I did think it might be best to literally ask him what the problem is and have it out in the open. We're the earliest starters at work and it may be a good time to talk it out.... I know i won't agree with what he probably has to say though and i'm fed up with giving any more ground to him.

What type of abuse Spud?

Re: How is everyone feeling? (31)
Verbal. It was sweary, demeaning and definitely sackworthy. I unfortunately draw this sort of behaviour out of particular people somehow. We have a weird relationship. I've managed him for ages, just taking the punches, rolling with it, then periods of getting along, then he chooses to be a dick, etc. - he must be so confused by me. These people unfortunately think there's no end to what they can do.
