^ Ooh, strong words there! I do think that everyone should feel comfortable wearing no makeup and not feel that they have to wear it for any reason. But a lot of people, both women and increasingly men, wear it for fun and because they like the way it looks and that's ok I think.

I'm too lazy to wear it and I never mastered the eye area. I should wear it sometimes now I'm older. I do object to the idea that it is unprofessional not to wear it if you're not in entertainment. Other than that, who cares, some people genuinely enjoy it.

^^ It used to be perfectly natural, acceptable, even encouraged, to have a few drinks and drive.
I just think it's an unnecessary burden, default standard that (mainly) women must adhere to. Or risk potential ostracisation.

By all means clean your teeth, wash yr face, brush yr hair.
But painting your face before you go out.
I'm not buying it's a happy state of affairs.

^^ Oh yes, the idea that women need to wear makeup to look professional is ridiculous, men have never been told that! Apart from certain circumstances where everyone wears it like theatre and tv.

That's the worst feeling. When you're feeling fairly calm and like things are going semi well and then it hits with physical symptoms. I get dizzy too. I find star jumps help for some reason.

What sorts of things help with managing your anxieties?

Well, by drink driving someone might hurt someone else. I don't think wearing makeup hurts anyone else unless they're poking people with their massive fake eyelashes lol.

Yeah women risking ostracisation if they don't wear makeup definitely isn't right but i think there's a lot less of that going on now, apart from maybe in some very specific industries.

Hmm I suppose the tipping point would be, how would not wearing it effect your daily life - friends, family, job, relationships etc

Ta lady!

Yesss! Absolutely felt like I needed to do something physical like that yesterday but couldn't! Think I need to revisit some of the ACT stuff I've found helpful in the past and really think about how I approach stuff in future.

Feeling a bit better this evening thankfully!

Agreed, it's incredibly creative & beautiful. It's an art, centuries old.
But it's been taken so far the other way.
'Not feeling good' until you put your makeup on is too common for it to be ignored, imo.

not that i wish them bad, but i hate how everything in life is designed by 'default' for them. , just like seats in the class/exams that are designed for the right-handed people and totally ignoring the fact that not everyone writes with their right hand.

even doctors/people who preach/work in the life coaching field asks us to behave like extroverts to be normal/to make our life better.
imagine you need first to work so hard for years to be like them, when you reach that level, now you can start from scratch to face life challenges lol

I am thinking of cutting my extended family off. It feels like they play games and say something but do something else or have different intentions.

Really want a better social life, when in reality it’s declining.

Frustrating that I had the best opportunities to socialise when I was at my worst in terms of SA, but now that’s not such an issue, the opportunities to meet new people have all dried up. Isn’t life just brilliant.

^ how about some casual volunteering?

There used to be a website where you could sign up for projects.

There's an archeological dig one here that I wanted to join but the dream
Is probably more exciting than reality !

^something I should look into again. The last time I looked though, many of the places where you can volunteer were oversubscribed or you had to have an interview with them like it was an actual job. Other stuff I like the look of is lots of physical work, which I’d really enjoy if it wasn’t for my flipping disability. The other issue is finding the time to do it - after 5 days of work I just want to recover at the weekend. Ideally I’d like 3 days at work, 2 days to recover, then 2 days to do something social.

Anyway, sounds like I’m talking myself out of it. I’m my own worst enemy.

In an ideal world, I’m looking for a space where I can go for a couple of hours where there’s all sorts of people from different backgrounds all doing different activities which you can join in with if you want with no obligation. You’d think in such a social extrovert world, something like this would exist.

However, silly rant aside, I will look again into volunteering things and see if there’s anything that interests me. Worth another go I guess.

Biscuits, I can see you cleaning rocks with a toothbrush there! However, I genuinely would enjoy that!

I was the same when looking for volunteer opportunities. They never seem to be at a time that is suitable! Try to see an interview as a stepping stone. They're usually fairly casual and just to see what you're like (to see if you're
polite etc.) and your availability.

Do you have a local games cafe? A new one opened up round here and they have social gaming nights where you just rock up and play games with randomers. I keep trying to work up the courage to go. Might be worth looking into. They also usually have campaigns as well like D&D and social deduction games if you fancy something heavier. (I'm getting Deja vu - sorry if I have said this to you already?)

Haha toothbrushes at the ready! (I'd hope they have the proper brushes though )

I wonder if there's a tiny cut/hole in the window screen that's big enough for a mosquito to enter/go through, do they spot that hole from a distance, or a mosquito has to accidentally find it!

Some years ago, it was almost impossible to find mosquitos here in the winter. Thanks to climate change.

Yeah climate change sucks. I had a mosquito in my flat this last Autumn, it actually got an itchy bite in before I swatted it. That sound they make is unmistakable. It's the first mosquito I've seen in the UK before, and it happened to choose my flat.

wow, I thought mosquitoes are probably less in the UK compared to other places, but 'the first mosquito you have seen? They must be really rare there.

Haha that sound is terrifying.

Reading up online, they are apparently common here, though I don't remember encountering one before. Maybe since I'm 'up north' biting ones are less frequent here. We normally just get bitten by midges instead.
